  1. Welcome to Ozark Anglers! I have no opinion on a heavy spinning rod for throwing weights up to 3 oz. I use bait cast gear for heavy weights.
  2. Yes he did do a lot of good with that charity and inspired a lot of people, but it went downhill once all the PED stuff came out. The guy lost a lot financially and also the potential for future endorsements. Something else, if he had not done the PED's then would he have won anything and would he have been a household name? Probably no one ever would've heard of him except for diehard bike racing fans.
  3. Welcome!
  4. Wheeler finished 2nd again on Erie today. Another $35K for him.
  5. You done good my friend - I was out a couple of times last week and didn't do anything worth mentioning, handful of short fish each time out.
  6. Yeah I was let down by Lance too, and I was also convinced that he wasn't doping and the French were going after him because he was beating them and they could not stand having an American win their tour. I haven't paid any attention to the tour since then and could not name the last winner. Lance's self justification was that everyone else was doping so he did it otherwise he could not have competed. I can understand that part, but when he went after Floyd with a lawsuit and publicly trashed people with his lies, that did it for me.
  7. Speaking of the Tour, did you see that 30 for 30 on Lance Armstrong? It was interesting.
  8. Corn fed carp - they have to be good to eat right? Make sure you keep one, put it on the grill and let us know how it turns out, I bet it's yummy! And I agree with Rick, 4# test maximum. And of course pics.
  9. I gave up on garage sales because I never see anything I want. Part of the problem around here is that people flock to the garage sales and if you don't get there right away the good stuff is gone. Neat score BTW.
  10. I had no idea. I'll keep that in mind if I ever sell it.
  11. Thanks for the tip, didn't even think of that.
  12. My running days are over, once you get a knee replacement that is it for running. But I can walk all day.
  13. My Trek is older than yours (nanner). 1990, the regional team I was on won the annual sales contest and we all got a bike. I haven't ridden it much at all, always been a walker, hiker, and runner. Miles and miles of bike trails, off road and concrete in this area, I really need to get out and ride some. First I have to put some air in the tires, and get a helmet. Knees pads too, gotta protect my artificial knee.
  14. That is brutal, I don't even know what that class is about, I suppose I could do a search.
  15. By the time finals rolled around for Calculus I, I would say that there were about 50% of the students left standing. I had no problem following along the lecture, but I would forget just about everything 3 days later. I had to do my homework and study a lot before the tests. Once I graduated, never used any of that stuff again, but that piece of paper helped me to have a good career.
  16. Cool, that would be great if we can get after them. Fall bite is squirrely, hard to predict.
  17. You and the Billethead are welcome to go with me and we can look for that fall bite. If Marty can get one on the fly rod, well that would be awesome. @BilletHead @curtisce
  18. I don't know of any myself, but I would suggest dropping by Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers, I bet they know of a night time tourney or two.
  19. Thanks for the report!
  20. Had a plan, do some early bass fishing, then catch some gills. Brought some red worms for the gills, brought 4 dozen with me as the reports I was reading were showing 6 year old kids loading the boat with big gills. Well those kids sure beat the heck out of me, I caught exactly one gill. Caught somewhere between 6 and 8 spots on the worms and a couple of short eyes, but I could just not find those gills and I even tried Babler's secret spot. Sometimes the fish win, and I hate it when they do. But, the bass cooperated fairly well on the swimming the Keitech deal, also got a keeper eye on the Keitech. Caught 21 bass total, only two keeps, but had fun on the spinning gear. Got run off the water about 11 AM. Quite a few fishermen out there today too. Very nice morning for August.

    51!

When I saw "51" I thought you were going to try and claim today was your 51st BD. I was all set to call you out on that one. 54 this AM here in AR.
  22. Looks like a neat place.
  23. Yes, what Bassmeister says, you've just got to get out there, that being said, for me personally August and September are usually very tough months on Beaver, I probably won't be out on it again until late September at the earliest. Jaxfishin - there was a good bite in the larger BV lakes on Keitechs a couple of weeks ago which was the last time I was out. 3.3 Keitechs on 1/4 oz heads, mid lake areas. Get out at daybreak and look for fish chasing shad on top, toss the Keitech at them or you can slow troll them too.
  24. Courtesy dock at Eagle Rock is on the beach.
  25. You can order wax worms and have them delivered, but the delivery time may not fit depending on how long you are there.
