Good measure of skill to get out and catch trout that are few and far between and also have a bit of experience dodging other anglers.

I do think that the Portal and NIL bring some parity to NCAAF. That would make the 12 team playoff a lot more interesting.

The BV pistol range is closed down for a while, so no ammo being expended by me. Might have to go to an indoor range next week if the roads are decent.

I have to stay away from that place. $$$ gone!

It's sunny with no wind, great fishing conditions. 😃 I bet there is a boat or two on the lake today.

The only time I like looking at NYC is out of an airplane window. It is an impressive sight from the air, especially at night. I have flown out of Newark several times, it gets my award for the rudest airline employees.

Big fan of the General's chicken. The office I worked in when I lived in Washington had a Safeway nearby. They had Chinese food in their deli for takeout. The best General Tso's chicken I have ever had came from that deli.

I was working on a project in NYC, were really busy and for a quick lunch the local guys said let's go get some dirty water dogs and get back to work. I figured those guys ate them all the time and were still alive, so I got a couple. I ate at some famous steakhouse in NYC but I can't remember the name. Fortunately it was on the customer's dime because it was expensive. I'm not worth what it would take to pay me to live there.

The annual walleye project at C.B. “Charlie” Craig Fish Hatchery in Centerton boasted a great year for production of these river-loving members of the perch family. Fish borrowed from the Kings River produced an impressive 799,235 walleye that were stocked in Lake Fort Smith, Beaver, Norfork and Bull Shoals lakes.

The state record is 9 ounces.

The "jelly" is the best part. I open a can of Vienny's, take out the sausages and toss them, and then eat the jelly with a spoon.

Tom W and his wife were fishing the Kings today and they caught 5 of these dudes. He asked me what I thought it was and I believe it is a yellow bass. Main identifier I see is the two dorsal fins being connected. Seems like we had a discussion on here before about yellers and some folks say that have caught them in TR, but I may be remembering wrong. Anyway, what do you think, yeller or not?

Did not know that about flatheads. One of my high schools buddies had a Portuguese grandad. His grandad and his buddies would fish for eels in the Charles river at night. They kept them, and I believe it was a Portuguese tradition to have eel as part of Christmas dinner. I have eaten eel at Japanese restaurants, and it is pretty good.

Congrats on the new boat, i don't see any fishing possibilities for myself in the near future. Tomorrow looks decent, but I have stuff to do. After that....❄️

When living in Mass. as a kid, you could go to any of the local lakes or ponds in the late evening, toss a crawler out, and it may make it a minute or two before a bullhead would eat it. And you could keep doing that until you got tired of catching them. No one fished for them, and I didn't know anyone that ate them, I certainly did not. Rumor had it they were good to eat.

Did you check to see if they were walking catfish? 😄 I remember years ago the walking catfish were on the march in Florida and everyone was afraid they would take over all the lakes and rivers there. Haven't heard one word about those things in years. I assume they are still there,

I use fluoro all the time, braid to fluoro leader and just about all my bottom dragging c-rig, jig and t-rig stuff. It's no more maintenance than mono. I use Seaguar. No drama at all. Palomar knots are easy to tie. I'll use mono for top water and moving baits. I like Maxima. I have tried straight braid with jigs and ned rigs, it catches fish, but that is the one line I have abrasion problems with fishing rocky lakes like TR and Beaver. Because of that, I have gone to fluoro leaders. I know that others have been able to fish straight braid on dragging techniques on these lakes, but it had not worked for me.

Speaking of cold - have you guys seen the forecast for next week? We may be ice fishing.

Got out for a few hours today, fishing was slower than it was last time I was out there with Dutch. I caught 6 bass, one was a 3 lb. smallmouth. Ned rigs were my best bait. WT 48 Some weather on the way, may be a while before I can get out again.
