  1. Welcome Will! Good to see a young guy joining up, most of us are probably 3 times your age. Ness may be 4 times! Catfish are fun, used to fish for them at night, chicken livers were my go-to bait for them.
  2. I've been wearing bifocals for about 20 years, always have been near sighted, but then needed the bifocal for reading and tying knots. I'm getting cataracts, just a matter of time before I get surgery for that.
  3. Hard to walk away from those 5 lb. browns you've been catching.
  4. I'm all over the place, I'll sometimes go as far up as close to the mouth of the Kings then fish my way back. What few I can catch have been main lake for the most part.
  5. You might want to look at Vancouver Island. You can drive there, 2,000+ miles from here, and you will need to take a ferry to get to the island. Native trout in the streams are all catch and release, so should provide for some good fishing. If you are willing to bushwhack you can get on some pretty remote stuff. I' have fished the saltwater out of Barclay Sound and on the drive there, passed over several streams that looked pretty good. You can search "Vancouver Island trout fishing" for some info.
  6. Launched early - went to a spot I like to fish over by the big island, and saw some scattered stripers chasing shad on top. Threw top waters at them, could not get any to respond. Kept an eye on the sonar screen and kept seeing fish and shad near the bottom in 30 FOW. Said the heck with the top water stuff, tossed a drop shot out there with a fluke and bang, fish on. That fish fought hard, thought it was a striper, but turned out to be a 3 lb. smallie. One strong fish. In the next 15 minutes, caught another keeper sized smallie and a 15" striper, thought I was on to something. HA! Sun popped over the hill and everything ground to a halt. Fished another couple of hours, drop shot, jig, and c-rig at various locations and only caught one 12" smallie. By 1030 I was done. Great weather, and the monarchs were migrating in force, they were flying across the lake, across the parking lot, and I even saw a couple flying over Indian Creek road. WT 75

    What's Cooking?

Local grocery store - Harps - sells meatloaf in the deli. People rave about it, they'll put out 20 of them and they'll be gone in 15 minutes. Couple of weeks ago I broke down and bought one. I can eat meatloaf, but I doubt it would crack the top 100 of my favorite foods. I fell for the hype against my better judgement. It was sort of OK, had a thick coating of some kind of ketchupy red sauce. Cannot figure out how people think it is wonderful meatloaf. They have great fried chicken, I'll stick to that next time I pick up diner there.
  8. 5:30 Saturday on TBS.
  9. Pasquantino had a few hits too. The other guys in the lineup need to start hitting.
  10. It was cold to start, truck said it was 43 at the launch. Temp hit 80 on the way home in the afternoon. Low 90's in the forecast the next few days, it still feels like summer. I have noticed that some of the trees are just starting to turn. Fishing for me is still tough, I know of some folks who are doing well, but they are fishing locations a bit too far away for my daytrips. I caught 10 bass, 2 were keepers. Jigs and the Carolina rig. Fish are in 5 - 20 FOW. Seeing some shad balls under the boat and some on top, but the bass aren't messing with them. I'm sure they'll figure it out and start getting after them. WT 75
  11. Yep, I enjoy fishing too. You can still catch them on this lake.
  12. On to New York! Game 1 is Saturday.
  13. Taking game one.
  14. White bass fajitas are great. Even without the best (secret recipe) BBQ sauce on the planet.
  15. Pretty similar to what we did yesterday, but I have also fished so much in that area that I can draw on past experience as to what places might be holding bass. Fishing off shore, I'll certainly use the sonar to let me know if there are fish in the area.
  16. Finding them with the jig.
  17. Dutch and I hit the water at daybreak, around 60 early and 80's when we left. We covered a lot of water. the bass wanted to bite when we could find them, but finding them wasn't easy. We got a few off points early, including the big fish of the day, a 3 lb. largemouth caught by Dutch. Best bite was jigs up shallow out to about 20 feet. Rocky banks with timber. Caught a few on full size Zinkers and the Carolina rig craw. We caught 16 with 4 keepers. We both lost a few too. Saw a monarch butterfly, first and only one I have seen this fall. It acted like it wanted to land on me but took off after fluttering around my head. WT was about 77 when we left.
  18. I'm going to be 67 in a week. Hey, it's the new 40!
  19. And if you get it, you're getting old! 😃
  20. I lived near Worcester Mass, which is pronounced (by the locals) "Woostah" . R's are silent. So the correct pronunciation is - Woostahsheeah.
  21. The chicken was gooooddddd!
  22. Yeah, I thought it was over when they got swept by Houston a couple of weeks ago. The bats are in a slump. Maybe with the Pasquatch back, once the playoffs start they can score some runs.
