  1. Did you hear her sing? It's not over until you hear the fat lady sing..
  2. Water level is 7 feet above normal pool, clarity is good, I would say about 2 feet of viz. Definitely not chocolate anymore. Up by the dam it's real clear, 10 feet of viz.
  3. Wnet out Friday and trolled in the War Eagle/White river confluence area. Picked up 8 crappie along with a few whites and Spots. Caught several on a Rapala TD7 which I was using in hopes of picking up a walleye, but the crappie seemed to really like it. Also picked up a few on Bandit 300's. Fish seemed to be mostly spawned out females.
  4. I did it many times, sometimes the fishing was really good, sometimes not so good. Some of the lakes have self supporting populations of trout, some of them need to be stocked periodically with fingerlings. General rule of thumb was the further you hike in, the better the fishing is. The fish usually top out in the 14-16 inch range as the only food for them is insects and they can't grow much larger than that on a diet of bugs. If a person had a week or two to spend hiking and fishing, with a little planning and picking the right trail you could fish a different lake every day on the hike.
  5. Did you try using little bream for bait? I went on a guided trip a month ago and the guide used shad and bream, caught fish on both. I have a fitec super spreader cast net that works pretty well for shad (you can buy them at Cabela's). I might have to go out there and try myself.
  6. I used to live in the Seattle area, there is an unbelievable number of hiking trails in the area. Lots of Alpine lakes that are loaded with gullible trout. Only drawback is that to get to those lakes it's usually several miles up a steep hill.
  7. Nice fish RPS!
  8. We were fishing shad and small Bream for bait. Two ounce egg sinker, five foot leader and slow troll up and down the river.
  9. I was up the White on a Striper trip last week, definitely are still Stripers up there. No one was around either, only other boat we saw all day was another striper boat. We wereseveral miles upstream from the 412 bridge, but as I don't know the landmarks in that area I can't be more helpful. Water was up and muddy, but the stripers did not seem to mind.
  10. I just had some White Bass fillets from fish I caught this weekend, I thought they were pretty good, I didn't soak them in anything, rolled them in corn meal and fried them in Canola oil. Maybe my taste buds aren't that sensitive, but they tasted fine to me. One thing I do, and it's with any fish I intend to keep, is ice them down as soon as they're in the boat, no stringer, no livewell, it's the cooler for them. Nothing like filleting ice cold fish when you get home.
  11. Launched early this AM at Indian Creek, motored over to Horn Hollw and started throwing 1/16 ounce white Road Runner up to the brush on the banks, slow rolling it back, I was looking for crappie, but ended up catching about 10 nice whites (several were 2-2 1/2 lbs.). They were scattered along the banks, it was more like fishing for largemouth than whites, some would be right on the bank and some I caught right up at the boat. Lots of shad in the area and some of the fish looked like they still had eggs, so maybe they are spawning up in that area. Anyway they were fun on light tackle. But at 0900 the sun came out and they just flat stopped, I fished until 1130 and never caught another white, just a few spots.
  12. Big ol' storm rolling through here right now, got real dark out, the streetlights came on, and it's raining like crazy. Fortunately there don't appear to be any tornados being spawned by this stuff.
  13. LOL, imitation "Crap" meat - I'm sure it's a typo, but funny! This is something I want to try, sounds good, and healthy too.
  14. Don't know about the mud line, but if I am reading the charts right, it looks like the lake has gone up about 5 feet in the last few days.
  15. Thanks - I like the way it looks.
  16. What lure is that MRCold?
  17. The Strike King Wake Shad looks very nice, but $22.00 each! Yowch!
  18. Their tech rep said they may not work well when the temp is 48-60? Sheesh, that scares me away from Shimano, plenty of good reels out there that work well when the temps are a little cool.
  19. I ma curious about your custom Roadrunners -what do you do to customize them?
  20. Speaking of Xpress, I have a 17' sorta flat greenish colored Xpress. 60HP Yamaha. I have an Ozark angler sticker on the port side. I don't fish TR very much, but I do fish the White river arm every once in a while above Holiday Island.
  21. I'm interested in going, I'll send you a message with my info.
  22. I've been meaning to get down there and try it myself. I have heard there are walleye in the lake, but don't know if that's true or not. It's a pretty lake for sure.
  23. I was out fishing near Monte Ne, thunderstorm rolled in over the hill, lightning was striking close by, and it started to rain as hard as it can rain. I got back to the dock, got the boat out of the water and sat in my jeep for about 10 minutes waiting for the rain to slow down so I could put on the tiedowns. Must have had an inch of water in the boat. It's scary when the lightning is that close, when you see the flash and hear the CRACK at the same time, you know it's close. As I as zooming in to the dock, I passed several boats that were still fishing. Maybe fiberglass does not conduct electrcity.
  24. Yes, thanks for the link!
  25. I don't have satellite , I wonder if they have it on cable?
