I have made alot of lead weights, bullets, and round balls for a sling shot when I was a kid with my uncle in his enclosed basement in St. Louis. He had an ample supply of lead water pipes that were pulled from buildings in the city. In chemistry class we played with mercury all of the time, used to roll it around on my hand. I think we even used it to separated out some other metals college. Now, you find an old mercury thermometer, and a hazmat team has to respond and dispose of at least an acre of ground to clean it up. I had a Mickey Mouse watch with glow in the dark hands that really made the geiger counter tick. I don't doubt the toxic effects of mercury, lead, or the little atomic particles that made our watches glow and the geiger counters tick in class. We have come a long way in controlling our damage to the environment, but this may be too much. But we must remember, The Government is only here to help us.

I assume it is a graphite rod with non metallic ferrules. Grab each section with opposing hands about 6 inches from the ferrule and push the rods apart. If it still does not work, try squatting, grasp the rod about 6 inches from the ferrule, place under your knees and use your knees to separate the rod sections. If you still have one stuck, grab a friend and do a little tug of war. Ice or cold water on one section, the male end will sometimes cause enough contraction to break them free. As far as lube, use a little wax that is made for the ferrules or nothing at all. Main thing is to keep the ferrules clean and don't use much force to seat them when you put the rod together. Oil from you nose or any oily lube just grabs more grit and makes things worse. One little grain of sand can really cause some damage to a graphite ferrule or a metal one for that matter.

There was a bunch of oversize loads clogging up the roads Friday carrying some kind of white thing with a name on it. I googled it and shazam, it was the housing for a wind mill. The blades went up a few months ago. Somebody is eating up the free cheese. Windmills are a hazard to waterfowl, but much like duck blinds placed the same place year after year, they will adapt.

He opened up alot of areas for mining and drilling, he loosened the endangered species act, and I think he weakened the powers of the EPA. BTW, I think there are groups out there that are trying to keep you from taking a crap outside, it is pollution also. Anyhow, I don't know what everyone is getting riled up about, it is a non issue from what I see. Just because Cabela's sends out a blast email to all of the customers to respond to an EPA site with their opinions. No laws or restrictions have been put in place. It is only a consideration. Now if you want to get riled about something, how about less government intervention on our lives based upon findings by little fringe groups like the Center for Biological Diversity.

The Center for Biological Diversity, a fringe group, is the one pushing the ban, which included lead ammo, based on their observation of the matter. Here is their story about the lead, but no real scientific data shown that I could find on their web. It does seem to be about waterfowl picking up pieces of lead weight for grindage, but what about jigs and lead weighted flies? We went down this road years ago and lead alternatives became available. Man Dies Trying to be a Survivorman. This happened back in May, but Field and Stream just had a big article on it. Seems like this guy took off into the woods with an ax and light clothing after getting pumped up by an episode of Survivorman. Now I find a little entertainment value in shows like that, I always wait for them to really screw up and bleed on TV for the most part to show what they are doing is real and not staged. But, it is what it is, a TV show, not reality. They have a support staff with a hot meal and a shower close by. Seems like this kid, Richard Code, forgot his film crew. Poor guy. He should have watched "Jackass" and had someone light bottle rockets out of his butt instead or put a fart mask on him. I have always been amazed at the followings of the "Reality" shows, I have considered them a waste of time for the most part. The WWW has tons more useful info on it.
