  1. Rolling blackout would be a PIA for me, I am all electric. And I am dreading my bill coming down the pipes. But my pipes are still flowing and home is 70.
  2. Thats what I thought. Never thought they were a grain eater though.
  3. Misc pics. Not bad for a cloudy, snowy day thru a insulated window pane.
  4. New bird today. Came in this morning and dropped in many times.
  5. Better pics today. Had a pair of the red ones.
  6. He did not stay around long for a better pic. It was cloudy and low light.
  7. They really like that creek coming in. I guess your ramp is closed right now, looks like the whole arm froze over.
  8. Nope. Was messing around with the boat a few weekends and thought about cleaning one off and covering it. Never got to it. Froze solid as a rock today under a few inches of frozen sleet. Ground so slick now, not walking around with anything pointy that I may stab myself if I slip and fall. No lettuce or sugar snap peas today.
  9. Been a while since I have shot the Gamo. Closer range than normal, kept shooting under. Then there is the 90 degree difference from inside to out, 20 mph winds, and snowflakes in my eyes. Challenging shots offhand today. I just plucked feathers from back, not messing with the skinning of it.
  10. Thats a cold mole.
  11. This one is in the process of making soft hackle flies soon. He did not survive.
  12. They are eating like hogs. Filling feeders up every day and dumping on ground since snow. Suet cakes replaced every other day. They do like the trees, they offer protection and roosting areas. I have pines and cedars for the roost areas.
  13. Here are a couple of more unknowns. Red phase sparrow? Don't know what the yellow headed one was from the other day.
  14. Never really see a lone starling, a group passes thru every now and then. The Tohee is pretty, but does not like it around the others. Seems to be a loner. Busy day at the feeder. Less than zero with over 20 mph winds here.
  15. These are common.

    Bird Id.

Looking out the window at the bird buffet this morning and I have some new visitors. Not sure what some of them are. The orange flank white breasted one is skittish. The red top bird is a wood pecker of some sort, but different plumage. I think the black one is a starling, but feeds with the wood peckers.
  17. One thing about any kind of lure, they never get cheaper. If I find something I really like and the fish like them too, I tend to buy a few extra. Never know when they quit making them.
  18. It was about 5 years ago in August. We spent most of our time on the Caney Fork messing with the trout. The lake was on draw down doing seismic work on the dam. Most boat ramps were closed. The one we were able to launch at was several lanes wide but only one side was open. My buddy launched me off in the boat and the depth finder revealed the reason for the lane closures. The ramp ended on a large flooded cliff. Lake was pulled down to the point that the other parts of the ramp and other ramps in the area would have about a 100' drop at the end. We fished around the lower part but could not really get much action. The whole area was pretty much a canyon before the area flooded, not much shallow water. Rumor had it that the upper middle part of the lake was having a walleye die off due to low oxygen levels. People were scooping them up off the top to salvage. The river below was filled with small TN stocker trout. If they generated, we could run the jet boat downstream. Never really seen or caught any with size. Most were 8-10" fish. We probably caught 100 apiece below the dam on the flyrod one after noon fishing where nobody else could access. We were the only boat.
  19. Most of the homes I have inspected this week. They don't need repair, they need wrecking balls. But $600 in their pockets make them feel like they need to spend it.
  20. I would love to be a backhoe runner right now. I could bury alot of stuff.
  21. Holmes Creek is in Middle TN on Center Hill Lake. I have fished it, its a canyon that was dammed up with 2-300 ft depths. Doubt if that would do much good. Maybe they use them below on the Caney Fork which is basically a float stream from the dam to confluence to the Cumberland. Trout are the mainstay on the upper end due to the tailwater discharge. Personally, they look like a good smallie bait. Should work. What weight is the jig head?
  22. Cold not make up its mind yesterday. Started spitting snow at 30. Temps dropped to 25 then freezing rain. Could not keep it off windshield unless I squirted de icer. Looks like another coat of sleet last nite after dark. Brrr. But have to get out an work in it all day again.
  23. Perspective makes it look wide. And long. 17' x 48" just looking at it.
  24. Thats different. Oarlocks are needed, don't see them on the one in pics. My little 14' river jon has them. A boat that size would be cumbersome to paddle, oars would make it easier. Like a drift boat.
  25. I was just reflecting on the attitudes of others during this pandemic in my travels. Remote places did not really want the Covid coming to their areas and treated the visitors differently this year. And big cities wanted everyone to stay at home. Since Fort Bennett relies on tourism, I can only assume it was a tough year for them due to the Covid. No hate there in those posts
