Missouri is Constitutional Carry now, no permit or training required. Before that, ccw classes required classroom training and shooting. Some trainers provide guns, others don't. I would think now you could get just the classroom training if you plan on staying in MO. Permits are still required in other states if you plan on visiting and carrying. Sorry to hear about your problems. The general population is getting alot harder to get along with. The simple minded ones that learn from their tv boxes and social media are ruining the country. I wish I lived closer and could help out more.

The liberals and lawyers have made it more difficult in places to buy guns of any type. A safety course is a good idea, basic workings of firearms have changed since stricker fire and trigger safeties have entered the market. I would reccommend it, from a good trainer in a one on one class, not a crowd. The 8 hour course for concealed carry around here runs $100 a person and you leave with a certification. It has safety training and more info needed to carry a firearm and use it for personal defense. Gunshops are usually more personal and knowledgeable than big box stores like Academy, Gander, and others. They are ok if you know what exactly you want and have the time to go thru the extra store mandated bs' to buy one.

Eagles usually react to gunfire, a warning shot may have saved that mallard. My buddies son was chasing a cripple across the lake in a kayak while we watched a bald eagle swooping down on him from behind. His shotgun blast at the cripple changed the eagles course of flight. We were watching it all unfold from the blind, pretty neat to watch. He did not even know the eagle was behind him at the time.

I would suggest a small 38 revolver or something like the Shield 380. Depends on how she wants to carry and conceal or not. https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/mp-380-shield-ez-0 https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/mp-bodyguard-38-integrated-crimson-trace-laser

Good looking bug you made there.

There is a range on Gravois in St Louis that rents all types by the hour. Has a nice BBQ restaurant in front. It would make a good road trip.

MODOT wasted my tax dollars erecting them. My favorite quote yesterday got a good laugh. Airbags Are Not Pillows, Don't Snooze And Drive! It was about 2 miles down the road past a little Prius that had bounced off the catch wires and landed in opposite ditch, air bags deployed. Either snoozing or texting, only 1 car involved but chewed up pretty good. Trooper had just pulled up when I passed. -

Brings me to another pet peeve. That silly MODOT sign that has the little cheap looking dot messages that they decided to erect along the interstates several miles apart. 634 people have died on Missouri roads. 62% were unbuckled. So, 38 percent of the people buckled up died. Following that train of thought, 38% of the 62 percent unbuckled would have died also anyway. So the sign should read 76% of people in fatal car accidents will die no matter what. Seat belts are only not the reason 24% of the people die in car accidents. -
The concept behind good gun shops is you buy what you want and go shoot it. If you like it, you put it in a safe and go buy another. When you find one you don't like as well as another in the shop, you trade it for the new one. Soon, you will need another safe. Or find a friend with a bunch of guns and try out the ones you like, then go to the gun shop and buy one like it.

Years ago when riding street bikes, I learned a valuable lesson. You don't just watch the traffic near you, you look further down the road. On a motorcycle, you don't have much protection, you can get hurt pretty quick. Something flying up off the road hitting you, dogs running out, birds. I just learned to pay more attention to my surroundings. It carried over into my auto driving too. I seldom get caught off guard, but have idiots do stuff on a daily basis that could have caused an accident. I drive about 25 thousand miles a year in a company truck and 25 thousand on a personal vehicle on my time off. I have alot of windshield time. Doing the math, I spend about 38 full days in a vehicle a year. -

Jigfest 2018 now Taneyfest 2018 due to weather...
jdmidwest replied to JestersHK's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
So, does 50 miles really make a difference. Looks like the same weather going to hit both places on NWS. They keep changing on us here. Was going to start Friday here, now noon on Sat with brunt on Sat nite and Sun. But it is still up in air since they can't seem to get a prediction right within a 3 hour time frame. -

Probably saved a few million by not taking a beating buying a new one every few years. Nothing depreciates in value faster than a new car. -

I buy tires off a buddy of mine, don't need a dealer for my yota's. He even changes the oil. Most local mechanics are better trained to service all types of autos, not much use for a dealer for me. My local Toyota has its issues, won't be taking anything there. Internet to diagnose, Ebay for parts, then do it yourself or local mechanic. -
Yes I was, just passing thru on way back from White River. Fished the Spring River the next morning. Nice little town you have there. My only gripe was the restaurant that serves breakfast all day in the ad on the sign. Does not open until 10 am. Kinda misses the point there. South Fork or the Strawberrry?

I would not think Ford has any thing intelligent. My F150 work truck has had more senseless recalls and is the worst riding vehicle I have been in. 2016 must not have been a good year for them, that truck is a turd. But it is the only Ford I have ever been in. I have converted to Toyota, the Japanese have figured out how to make a motor vehicle perform. -

I took a hint from my younger fishing buddy that is battling cataracts. He bought some lure wraps. Just velcro around the plug and they are still tied on next trip. Since we pound the same water and typically use the same rigs, it works pretty good. Just keep a watch on the line abrasions. Nice thing, Hit the dock, dump the boat, fish. No fussing around with stringing up multiple rods. They ride good in the rod box and the truck. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h2o-xpress™-lure-wrap -
People still shoot at ducks? That last surgery tweaked a nerve that runs thru the face of my right shoulder. I caught myself flinching the other day at the range on just a mild 300 AAC round at 100 yards. Lighter rounds still grouping fine. Still not ready for multiple rounds of 12 ga to that yet, sit this year out again. If it persists, I may find a surgeon to remove that nerve. I have grandkids that need to learn the sport. Meanwhile, I live the hunt thru others reports. And I heard this year, like the last 3, is still pretty lame. My comeback tour will be on a hot year.

Bet he won't be there long now. Some hunter will stick him.

Why not Rhino coating. Spray it on and be done. NO seams or glue to peel up. Easy to cover odd shapes. Better traction with same results as vinyl.. http://liners.rhinolinings.com/en/media/category/3/Boats

Feds should also mandate those driving take a driving test to get their license, but I see no proof of it around here. 3 lane change on a 4 lane street across closely moving traffic without signals. My pet one, using the center turn lane as an acceleration lane to merge into traffic. They never win that race with me.
