  1. AT&T is acting up tonite, double posted.
  2. My neighbor offered up most of his garden spot this year to me. Now that he is a single man, he does not need a big garden. I have farmed it in the past, when the previous owner came up with cancer and could not plant it. I tilled it up today and planted 8 20' rows of Silver Queen and Peaches and Cream sweet corn, 1 20' row of Jade bush green beans, 1 20' row of Dwarf Long Pod okra, and 4 hills of zucchini squash. It is a nice open, sunny spot for growing big row crops. They should do well. My garden plot is getting shaded by trees in a fencerow shared with a neighbor. With that, and the squirrels, it has been a while since I have had a good mess of sweet corn. I planted some at the farm the last few years, but the coons and squirrels raided it before I got any. My plot has the 4 raised beds I made last year, one is all tomatoes, 2 smaller ones are pole beans and bush beans, and the other is all cucumbers. The remainder of the garden is a row of okra, 2 rows of silver cowpeas, a row of sunflowers, and a few hills of zucchini. The strawberry bed I made last year is blooming like crazy and looks like it will really produce this year. My other raised beds/cold frames are filled with lettuce, a few peppers, spinach, and knee hi sugar snap peas. I split my bees here yesterday and made 5 new hives. Going out to the farm later this week to do splits there. At the end of the week I should be at around 20 hives between both places. If all goes well, I should be able to get 5 more splits in June bringing my total to 25. I need to get all of this stuff done so I can get to fishing. I am tired of people telling me how great the fishing is now.
  3. Larger smallies are probably on beds. Hard to get them unless you drop one in on them. Give them a little more time and it will pick up.
  4. So much nicer than a pic of one laying on a gravel bar.
  5. Ignorance is bliss.
  6. Where is Wild Acres?
  7. I was thinking the same, but he kept saying it tasted good. That was what was confusing.
  8. I think it is over around here. Grass too tall to find them anyway.
  9. I fished Sunnen for bass a couple of times, nothing spectacular.
  10. http://www.guns.com/2015/05/01/teen-hunter-facing-expulsion-cleared-to-return-to-school/ This one has a semi happy ending. Seems like social media may have helped him get his message out. And it may change how MO. law sees firearms in locked vehicles. Just another one of those fuzzy gray areas that befuddle anyone that carries a firearm. In MO, it is legal for someone 21 or older to keep a loaded firearm in a vehicle. MO Castle Doctrine extends to a vehicle to cover self defense in the case of a car jacking. Your car or truck is personal property and requires permission or a warrant to search, just like a house or domicile. But, schools are state property, gathering places of more than a few people, off limits to loaded firearms. But your cars and trucks are personal property and should be exempt. Looks like it will be clearer in the future.
  11. Shallow rocky banks near shore. I fish crickets, jigs, or rooster tails.
  12. Nice tasty bird.
  13. What kind of fish did you use Phil?
  14. That would be the spot. I have not been in a couple of years, but they should still be good. Full moon coming up, they should be on beds.

  16. So much more than just Facebook. Your car is your own personal property in MO. Not the school property. What happened to a grain of common sense. He was not some nutball planning a school shooting. Wait a minute, you can't profile against nutballs, that would violate their rights. There is no common sense any more. I hope he really wins his appeal to this mess.
  17. http://www.stltoday.com/news/state-and-regional/missouri/students-rally-around-teen-hunter-who-brought-gun-to-school/article_2994af02-7b45-5ae8-9395-bd5344c620f3.html This poor feller has been nailed for having an unloaded and taken apart gun in his own personal property on school grounds. There is so many things wrong with this world today. No wonder today's youth want to sit around the house instead of going out into the wild.
  18. So, what kind of snake do you think that is?
  19. Without electric brakes on the trailer, it would be pretty iffy. GVW may be about the same as a big boat and trailer. Look at your manual and see what the ratings are for it. I have pulled some pretty big stuff with a 3.6 V6 in a 4 Runner. But it has a tow capacity of 500/5000 lbs, which is in my book amazing for a small truck. I pulled a nice big heavy popup thru hills, but it was about all it would do in my opinion. Boats have been pretty easy, a 17 SearArk Alum. boat and trailer pulled like it was not there.
  20. There are some Winchester Collectors out there that would pay for them. Put them on Ebay and let them run. I run across many bamboo rods in antique malls that are way over priced junk. Broken tips, odd guides, bad wraps, sanded cork, or worst of all, sanded down and refinished. All of the edges rounded down, all original marking sanded off, and wrapped with modern threads.
  21. Nice. I nailed a 3 beard bird once. Several double beards. But that may be the first 4 beard bird I have seen. I saw a bearded hen while crusing around back roads yesterday. I nailed my bird on Monday morning. 19 lbs, 10" beard, 1 1/4 spur. Not much fun, silent bird that just happened to be at the wrong place at the right time.
  22. Dont forget sycamores.
  23. Back in the fifties, Japanese flooded the market with cheaper bamboo rods. My uncle brought some back while in the Navy. Lower end rods. I think the glues they used was inferior. They were the Zebcos of bamboo. Not much collector value. Cant help with the spin rod.
