  1. I suck, 10 vacation days and 2 hours personal time per month after 21 years of service.
  2. Nice ones. My best fish ever have come on the flies I have tied. Adds a little when you roll your own baits.
  3. Try telling your boss to up your income so you can retire comfortable, see how that works. Best to have another income source than Social Security. Never trust the government, ever.....
  4. If he had some weight in front to offset the weight of the heavy Merc, he could have went more skinny. Would have trimmed better. Back off the speed and reserve some for current and steering, don't go full blast all of the time. My little 1654 Express with the 20hp Johnson 2 stroke could have made all of that with a man in front and a trolling motor.

    What's Cooking?

There are days that I am glad I live in nowhere. Naked folks on bikes are a sight that needs to be unseen. Lots of rotten bike seats tonite I am thinking......
  6. I use that stuff too, but the wasps I hit with it still seem to fly enough that I have to get away. I would have used a flame thrower, at least the wings burn off and you can stomp them on the ground.
  7. Bigfoot Burgers what took over Flossies Apple Barrel after covid. They were closed last time thru, have to check them out.
  8. It's not your normal chicken hawk.
  9. Those sweepers are tough on even jet boats if you are not paying attention. This warm weather and the decision to make the upper part above Turner a trophy area has ruined it for fishing. I does fish better in the fall and winter. It gets a supplemental stocking in December if they are still doing it. It is the most beautiful and wild stream in MO. We need to keep it that way.
  10. Looks more like the old black rat snake, Aka Chicken Snake.. If there is a mouse hole, there is a way in for them. Make sure he finds a new home far away.
  11. Are we floating or jet boating?
  12. Never done the James either. As long as we don't run into the Graybear we should be fine.
  13. At least you still have an eye. Maybe you need a chainsaw. I bought a nice little Bauer 20 volt for my quick cutting jobs that don't feel like yanking on the gas one.
  14. Cmon, we can all smell fishy things....
  15. With one of these on their back.
  16. Secret Service needs to start practicing on owls.
  17. Save 15% at MDC store if you have Heritage Card. They usually have them.
  18. Why don't you scan it to pdf and put it out for public domain? Seems like alot of trouble so far not to pass that knowledge along to others. Publish it here on-site if nothing else. I am sure those that use the river system will enjoy it.
  19. I did just take a look at this thread. "Barely Legal" was a skin mag from the 80's by Hustler's Larry Flynt. Good looking flies.
  20. Something goofy going on with River Guages. I see black on Jacks Fork in icons but gauge sees dropping river. I think data screwed up. The storm was spotty. I was going to the Current above Van Buren for a boat ride on Friday. But the data is inconclusive.
  21. I just beat my head against the wall for 20 minutes waiting for the stupidity of humanity to get worse. It works, it does. Just have to roll with it.
  22. We only got a whiff here. Lucky for me, I don't have to cut my way in to the farm tomorrow nite. Flash flooding brings all kinds of stuff down stream.
  23. It's hit and miss. Weekend's there is usually a crowd around watching out and camping at Turner and Whitten. 142 at the Narrows has easy access to road and I did have vehicle broken into on a 3 day float from Cane Bluff.
  24. Whitten is kept up for float camp traffic by NFS. Cane Bluff access is county road till near the end, then NFS. Recent rains may have them rutted some but should be navigable in a sedan. Not all of the crackheads that hang out there drive trucks, have to keep them smooth. I would not leave overnite at either place.
