  1. That sounds better than what I see at the takeout: boat ramp and porta potty only. But I’ve never been there either. Y bridge park
  2. I'll bring enough hamburger to make double smash burgers for about 10 folks. I'll pick up some buns too I guess. Dan is saying 1:00, but I'm not clear where we're sposta be.
  3. Wow! Very cool trip, experiences and scenery! The northern lights pics are very cool. That’s not someplace you hear much about. Thanks for sharing.
  4. This isn't an overnighter -- just several guys floating and then them, and a few non-floaters, meeting up for a quick gathering afterward around Galena. I'm going to drive down Friday evening, stay overnight and wade fish in the area Saturday morning. Then I'll head over to the meeting place. I plan to head home Saturday evening.
  5. Alright, let's get this nailed down: Are we meeting at Y Bridge Park in Galena, around 1:00? What's the head count? What's on the menu? Backstrap medallions & ?? Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, chips, beans, condiments?? I'm happy to chip in wherever.
  6. I’ve got the small Blackstone that’ll work on a picnic table.
  7. I not going to float, but if we can get a solid plan for afterward I’ll be there. I’d be happy to bring some food down and help cook too.
  8. That looks so ridiculously complicated in the video, but it really is easy. Once you get it down you probably won't mess with the whip finisher much.

    What's Cooking?

I've tried a few different types of brat, including from a pretty cool little German meat shop near here (Werner's), the Hermann Wurst Haus in Hermann, and KC Bier Co, who specializes in German beer and has a small menu of German foods. I just like the Johnsonville brats best. We do the beer boil too -- wifey likes to add onions. Then we finish them quickly on the grill. You?

  15. I don’t follow tournament fishing at all, but now I’m a little curious which of the circuits will be impacted by this.
  16. I’d like to hold that event at my house and encourage the chefs to use the well-fed indigenous rodents here. I hate them.
  17. This keeps getting curiouser and curiouser😀

    What's Cooking?

I don't hate cumin, just don't care for too much of it. I don't use cumin in my taco seasoning either, but I do use ground coriander. Cumin does go in our various chili recipes (green, white and red), just not much. I love curries and good old store bought curry powder.

    What's Cooking?

Actually, I'm not much of a cumin fan so I took it out of the recipe and subbed in the onion and garlic powders.

    What's Cooking?

We've been making a lot of hummus lately. We've tweaked things to get it right where we like it. Awfully easy to make: canned chick peas, tahini, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika. Stick blender, add juice from chickpeas as needed to get to the right consistency. Fold in pimentos. Dress with a good olive oil and a little paprika. Good stuff!

    What's Cooking?

Recents. All three are repeats of previous posts, but hey, we cooked 'em again. Roasted beet and goat cheese salad with dried cranberries and pecans. Cylindra beets from our garden. Bourbon, brown sugar and pecan glazed salmon. We've been getting good salmon from Aldi lately. I'm not really a salmon fan, but this is delicious. Italian green beans from our garden and a boxed mushroom risotto that wasn't too bad.
