  1. Those look good to me! Bass flies are a lot of fun to do. We've got some really good tiers on here too. @BilletHead, @Flysmallie come to mind. If you look through this sub-forum you'll see some step-by-steps, fly swaps, etc. Really good info and source of ideas. Keep at it!
  2. Senseless. Seems like a couple misdemeanors aren't enough.

Oops. Second time I go to edit a post and end up quoting it in a new post.

    What's Cooking?

I’ve done something similar many times but saw something this weekend that made me want to change things up. Cod with a brown butter lemon caper sauce. Brown butter was the new twist. White wine, lemon zest. Very good.
  5. OK. I thought I was right on this one. Dang it!
  6. Nope and nope. They all, including ones in between that you forgot about, say, 'Will this get me reelected?'

    What's Cooking?

I've really had the itch for seafood lately, so Saturday night we drove across town to a pretty nice restaurant that has an outdoor seating area. I can't remember the last time I ate *at* a restaurant. Looked over the menu and decided to have two appetizers and soup instead of a main course. Soup was clam chowder and it was excellent. Also got crab cakes and lobster rolls. First problem was the appetizer portions were huge. Each was big enough for a meal. Dove into the lobster rolls first, because I love them and haven't had one in a loooong time. If there was lobster in there I couldn't find it or taste it. Shredded if it was in there. And, there were diced cucumbers in there. Can't stand that. A total bust, so on to the Crab cakes. If there was crab in there I couldn't find it or taste it. Shredded if it was in there. Lotsa crunchy vegetables. The aioli and breading were good. I was tempted to complain, but I know these guys are hanging on by their fingernails and we've been there before and it was excellent, so I let it go. So, seafood itch un-scratched we did a linguine with scallops in a garlic cream and Parmesan sauce the other night. Pretty tasty.

    What's Cooking?

Funny you should mention that. Been toying with the idea of adding a bit to my BBQ sauce. Many years ago the family went out for dinner and the kids ordered chocolate milk shakes as a treat for dessert. I tasted it and was blown away. Couldn’t figure out what was going on in there. Went to the counter and asked the guy. He said maple syrup. Didn’t taste maple syrup, it was just enough to add something good. That’s what I’m thinking with BBQ sauce.

    What's Cooking?

Love Muenster in a grilled cheese. One of my favorites is with deli roast beef and a few strips of roasted Anaheim chili. I’ve even put Muenster on pizza a time or two. Yesterday’s breakfast was a Dutch baby with strawberries and A little maple syrup. Love this stuff. Available on Amazon:

Nice, but needs a little something....
  14. I wasn’t gonna get into all this stuff, but now I feel compelled. My next door neighbor was pretty drunk a while back and started talking. Seems he was on Flight 77 that fateful morning and said they were diverted to Canada, like so many other flights were. While they were sitting on the tarmac a fleet of black Suburbans drove up. A group of armed men boarded the plane and spread out among the passengers. The leader, who spoke with a thick Russian accent, told them their lives were going to change forever. Each person on the plane was given a numbered $100 billion Swiss bank account and a debit card. They were told they would be entering the D25K(1)(f) program and would be issued new identities. They would never see or contact their families or friends again, or they would be subject to a Number 7. Each passenger and crew member was then ordered at gunpoint to take a pill. They were told this was a compound which would completely erase their memory, except for stuff they would need day-to-day, like how to eat, etc. My neighbor cleverly hid the pill under his tongue when they checked to see if he had swallowed. Anyway, he was given a new identity and for some reason decided Shawnee, KS was the ideal place for him to live. Several times a year he hops on his Citation and flies to Boston (I think) to see his family. He’s pretty quiet about that stuff, and I don’t pry. So, with his vast resources he was able to investigate the Pentagon explosion. He told me there was a new shipment of Tomahawks being delivered on 9/11. As the missiles were being unloaded a group of Russian operatives ambushed the UPS driver and stole them. As they sped off, one of the missiles rolled off the truck, ignited and shot right into the side of the Pentagon. The government was so embarrassed they concocted this elaborate scheme to hide the facts. My neighbor seems like a pretty straight dude, so I never questioned the story. I have brought it up a couple times to get more details, but he always changes the subject. I’ll try again tonight if you guys want more info, but I think this pretty much answers all your questions.
  15. Why capitalize Medicine? Not a proper noun. 😄
  16. I think what a most of ‘us’ have in common is the ability to process information without molding it to fit into a crazy-posterior world view. Trump’s got nothing to do with it, directly😄 Leave it to the knuckleheads to screw a thread like this up.
  17. Yeah, I saw that comment in the comments below the video too. 😄
  18. I can tell by the font you copied and pasted that. No like for you 😄
  19. I was at work and on the phone with a broker when the first tower went down. They had a TV on their sales floor in KC and he was giving me a blow-by-blow...then he paused and just said, 'It's gone.' I asked him what and he said, 'The tower.' We did/do business with Sandler O'Neill a brokerage firm whose headquarters were on the 104th floor of the south tower. They lost something like 60 employees including one of the founders. I knew two people there -- Todd Rancke and Judy Scott. Todd was killed, Judy had a dentist appointment and wasn't in the office that morning. Todd was a fairly young guy with young kids. Have a friend that worked for Nomura at the time. Their HQ was in the World Financial Center across the highway from the World Trade Center complex. He saw the beginnings of things from his office before the evacuated. Bloomberg terminal has a news feed with headlines scrolling down the page constantly. That day I printed several pages of them in real time. Interesting to look at them now see how things developed. Also to see the bad info that was hitting the wire -- like the White House was hit, Sears tower too. And how the markets reacted.
  20. You sound like The Godfather of Gravois Mills.
  21. Hah! Trying to clean up your image here 😄 Find some happiness. Good night.
  22. Oh man, you really got me there. Good night Mitch.
  23. Laughable. But if I’m such a prick maybe I’ll share some of our PMs 😄 Oh wait, you’ve got that covered because I edit stuff first. You do need a break.
  24. Find something in your life that makes you happy. You’re such a freakin’ a downer.
  25. Don’t forget who started this train wreck of a thread 😄
