  1. I've tried that Gavin. I thought cleaning eyes was a pain in the drain. I've also masked and sprayed. It's a pain too. Lately I've been brushing it on just like Marty is doing. Thin coat, dries quickly, no muss, no fuss. It goes pretty quick.

There's a rumor going around that the Brazilian mafia had a lot of money riding on the outcome.
  3. Wait...I thought this was about Ted Bundy. Never mind.
  4. One-way fly swap. I like it! Now, all you other guys go away.
  5. Hah! I'm here -- I was trying to eat pizza and read this thread on my phone (hint: not worth it). Now I'm back at 'work'. Looking good Marty. I really love what the epoxy does to these poppers. Puts a nice, smooth, hard, glossy coat on them and makes them a lot tougher. I really like your stippling too -- I can't seem to get mine that nice.
  6. I haven't studied all the facts and law surrounding this, so this is all speculation and generalization on my part. (No surprise, huh?) Bundy fought and won a public relations war against the feds, enabled by our mile-wide and inch-deep media. Fortunately for him, the Duchess of York hadn't encountered any dress-lifting winds, the Beyonce/Jay-Z story hadn't broken, and Babba Wawa hadn't announced her big news -- so there was about 23:55 of cable news to fill each day. His 'government picking on the little guy' story sounded good enough that it whipped folks into a frenzy, especially paranoid people with guns and nothing better to do with their time. I don't fault him for the crimes of the people that showed up, but I do think he needs to pay up or get out. If not, get the USDA out there and mention there might be a mad cow outbreak.
  7. Beautiful work! I need to go blow the dust off my workbench and do some more of these. Because some day I just may actually go freakin' fishing
  8. Well, I'm getting maters of a couple Celebrity plants, and one Cherokee Purple. All my maters but the Celebrities look feeble. My beans are being devastated by the crud, getting some on the maters too. Pulled about a third of my onions -- the red ones. OK sized, averaging about the size of a pool ball. Doesn't look like the other 2/3 will be even that big. Generally, stuff's not looking all to good. Didn't grow cukes this year, but have bought some pickling cukes from Wal-Mart. They're pretty small. Did two quarts of refrigerator dill spears a couple weeks ago and 7 pints last night. Pickled two quarts of beets from the garden too.
  9. This is gonna be good! Don't leave us hanging, bro!

This has been floating around for a while, but if you haven't seen it it's definitely worth a look:
  11. Holy schnikies! I looked up the lodge where you are. I need to start saving my shekels!
  12. I'd have done the same thing, and might not have stopped at two.

Or, let them use their hands, and allow tackling and blocking.
  14. BTW -- I always try to steer my business to the local, non-chain guys whenever I can.
  15. Yeah, forced to buy a couple.
  16. Looks great Marty!
  17. Sweet looking fly right there.

Yeah, I came in with a few minutes of regulation to go. Would I have stuck it out the whole time for a 0-0 tie? I doubt it. It's pretty tame action wise compared to the NFL. But I recognize it's a cultural thing to a large extent, and not really a fair comparison.
  20. ...raised beds...filled with good soil...problem solved
  21. I generally wait until the onion stalks start to fall over, which is right now for me, then back off on the watering. When most of the tops are down, I'll knock over the rest and pick them in about week.
  22. Nice report Nighthawk. We've got a similar tradition going to Roaring River each fall with a fairly large family group. Those trips have become something we all really look forward to.
  23. Some folks like Badgers, but I'm more of a Beaver guy.
  24. Darkness? I thinks it's a sport that's more dangerous than it seems to the outsider. People die fairly frequently. I just read this -- don't know if it's real, or if it explains what happened at TR, but it's interesting : http://www.scubadiving.com/lessons-life-death-shallows
  25. Nice Beaver!
