  1. This was a very enjoyable get-together! It was great to meet Phil, Quill, Terrier, Dan/Sandy and Bass Yakker. Also great to see Andrew, Marty and Pat again. Good backstrap medallions, summer sausage sandwiches, jalapeño potato salad and burgers. You know the food is good when every fly in the county shows up😀 Fishing wise: you all know I typically target only the big fish. But for this trip I thought I’d try this micro fishing everyone’s talking about. Of course I was wildly successful. 🤪
  2. I’ll pick up a gallon of water and a bucket for the rinsin’😀
  3. I’m heading down regardless. Somebody’s gonna get hamburgers! I hope it’s you guys😀
  4. Yes, happy birthday Phil! Looking forward to meeting you face to face.
  5. Please rinse off the jelly juice before soiling the griddle😀
  6. It’s not a big deal to bring the tabletop griddle. I’ll cover the burgers and buns. I’m looking forward to meeting new folks face-to-face and seeing some old friends too.

    What's Brewing?

I’m not a huge bitter hop fan but I do kinda like the citrusy dry hopped stuff.
  10. Trying to pin this down reminds me of when a friend and I broke open a thermostat and tried to corral the mercury. I may just get 11 Happy Meals and call it good. 50-50 McNuggets and hamburgers. 😜
  11. “Cook thee not upon the gravel, for it will scratch thy griddle and hurt thy butt.” — Josiah Blackstone, 1842
  12. I’m not cooking on the ground. 😀Hamburgers will be available at Y Bridge Park.
  13. Ok and thanks. I’ll be over at the park slaving over a hot Blackstone for my OA brethren and Pat😀
  14. That sounds better than what I see at the takeout: boat ramp and porta potty only. But I’ve never been there either. Y bridge park
  15. I'll bring enough hamburger to make double smash burgers for about 10 folks. I'll pick up some buns too I guess. Dan is saying 1:00, but I'm not clear where we're sposta be.
  16. Wow! Very cool trip, experiences and scenery! The northern lights pics are very cool. That’s not someplace you hear much about. Thanks for sharing.
  17. This isn't an overnighter -- just several guys floating and then them, and a few non-floaters, meeting up for a quick gathering afterward around Galena. I'm going to drive down Friday evening, stay overnight and wade fish in the area Saturday morning. Then I'll head over to the meeting place. I plan to head home Saturday evening.
  18. Alright, let's get this nailed down: Are we meeting at Y Bridge Park in Galena, around 1:00? What's the head count? What's on the menu? Backstrap medallions & ?? Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, chips, beans, condiments?? I'm happy to chip in wherever.
  19. I’ve got the small Blackstone that’ll work on a picnic table.
  20. I not going to float, but if we can get a solid plan for afterward I’ll be there. I’d be happy to bring some food down and help cook too.
  21. That looks so ridiculously complicated in the video, but it really is easy. Once you get it down you probably won't mess with the whip finisher much.

    What's Cooking?

I've tried a few different types of brat, including from a pretty cool little German meat shop near here (Werner's), the Hermann Wurst Haus in Hermann, and KC Bier Co, who specializes in German beer and has a small menu of German foods. I just like the Johnsonville brats best. We do the beer boil too -- wifey likes to add onions. Then we finish them quickly on the grill. You?
