Feral wild birds. Knew a guy when he was a kid he did barns at night and caught them by net. Then one day he fell from a rafter. He gave up that enterprise. 25 cents a bird.

Hey one shot, Why don't you build a ram pump. I have a close friend that lives just outside Weableau he is pumping water uphill to his pond. Quite the deal. Look it up people.

Definitely more gamey. That's why we eat different things. I don't want chicken every day. Don't want beef every day. Variety is the spice of life. Same old, same old makes me a dull boy.

Ooof I have shot a few but they were common barn and farm birds. Tasty you have to treat them like duck and dove. Rare to medium rare. If I knew that someone had pet/ hobby birds I wouldn't shoot them.

There is the gooey mess of plastic worms and vintage lures mixed together in a heap stuck in there too. If we would have known that then we would not have mixed them.

Way back in my younger years when I didn't pay attention to things like this I wonder how many dobsonfly have fried on my Colman lantern while catfishing. I miss that fried bug smell.

You all look up dobsonfly. These are big and crazy looking. I've had one in my hands. Might be a relative of this other critter.

I agree but you never know that could be the best spot on the river. I really think fishing and hunting licenses are the best bargain available. Cheap entertainment. You can't go to a movie and get popcorn for the price.

Submerged log with a few branches. 5 to 6 foot deep. Was dragging crappie out of there when I pulled over a log and wham. A moving stream and a back eddy there. The same fly I just put in the fly swap. A couple days later a bigger one. It might be posted on the swap also.

You are missing out by not pursuing other species with your fly rod. Bluegill and a hoot with the long stick. I have been really blessed with channel cat and blue cat on the fly rod. Some are targeted and some were a bycatches while targeting other fish.

Oh I know the stink factor deal. Went with @curtisce on a trip below Truman dam three weeks ago. That guy landed 8 walleye and I never stuck one. In the same boat and using the same thing. He shared a couple, so it was a fun trip, but I was humiliated. We generally do about the same together. UGH not sure what it was. Went back a week later and got into hybrids. We did good and He let me catch a few. 🤣
