    What's Cooking?

Fresh teal, cheesy fried potatoes and slaw. VID_20220911_142119709.mp4 Cooked to perfection.
  4. What a muddy mess. Irrigation lake pumped down to about nothing. Blue wing teal like mud we do not. This morning was our first teal hunt of the season. Nothing around yesterday or so we thought so we shot doves instead. About daylight Pat points out a mega wad of teal in the distance. After killing ten dove between us we checked a pond. Four there. Checked again last evening and 130 on it. So it was teal this morning. VID_20220911_062920301.mp4 Before LST a few in and out. Then all broke loose with little flocks of teal. I once got stuck in the mud and went to my knees. I was totally stuck. Would still be there if it wasn't for my wing woman. Usually Blue wings and thin skinned and not much fat. Not these. All pretty fat. Good eats and yes teal was consumed this afternoon.
  5. Heck of a deal Keith. If I did not have a pair already, I would be all over them!

I polished it because I knew you would be critiquing! Thanks.
  7. Dangit Glen I am hating to hear your ongoing discomfort. I know about crap like this, but I am not telling you what I would do because you need to make a choice of what you need to do. Just do something and see if it will work. Sounds like you are approaching a wall or have hit it. I know you feel the body can heal itself and you are right in some instances. There are other things that will not heal on their own. Even if you need to eat a slice of humble pie do SOMETHING to feel better.

    What's Cooking?

Deep fried dove, Headshot dove get this treatment. I don't care what the guys say from the cheap seats in the back this is a nice treat. Clean them whole, easy to pluck and wash out. Season flour them, Heat up the oil. Mega wok vessel of choice today with peanut oil, Fry those guys. Give them a swim. VID_20220909_105108465.mp4 Rescue them and chow down.
  9. I do, did you know what the meaning was? By the way. Nine more dove this morning. What is your head count so far this season? 😆
  10. last I heard it's still for sale.
  11. No problem, Pat caught the deal because we will be heading your way that weekend for Jacob's cave swap meet.
  12. Can you reaffirm that date please? Thought it was a weekend deal.
  13. It's the way it should be. I have tied and shared more flies than I have lost probably.
  14. Not in my head at all. My doctor was an Osteopath and was trained to do adjustments just like a quackapractor I mean chiropractor. I am sure chiropractor has his or her place in medicine but not for me then or now. As messed up as I am now, I am very protective of my lumbar area and know what can happen if I further damage it. Just what will it take for you to choose to see a doctor Glen? I truly hope you recover with some rest so as to not have to make that choice.
  15. Very nice JD! Looks like If all continues to go well, I will have eleven going into winter. One is kind of suspect as I have not seen the queen but there is still brood in it. They left because of hive beetles. I did a cleaning of the hive and got the colony back in a swarm trap and re-introduced them later with a couple brood frames from a strong hive. Late in the season but we will see. I only harvest once a season and will see what I have to take within a couple three weeks. I will take the kings share but the queen comes first and will take care of the girls first. The summer dearth was hard here on my bees. I was glad when the golden rod began to bloom. I have yet to see an aster but sure some are blooming somewhere. I gifted out three standard Langsdorf colonies and got one new beekeeper started. He built three long Langsdorf hives and introduced the colonies into them. He is in a high nectar flow area and those hives have done well. He is happy and I am happy for him. Last but not least my second batch of Meade has been racked once and is ready to bottle. Very happy with that new undertaking but sure uses a bunch of honey per batch.
  16. I had a bad spasm in back when many moons ago, way before my compressed disks. It was a Saturday morning. I literally could not move without hurting. By Sunday morning it was worse, and I was told there was an old chiropractor that would come to office on Sunday. I was so desperate I went. He started manipulating me to the point he had me in tears. I made it home worse. Monday morning, I went to doctor. He said oh no that was not the right thing to do. No kidding doc! He gave me some muscle relaxants for a few days, and it worked. I still have no idea what brought it on.
  17. Should of taken a couple out for finder's fee. 😁
  18. Bummer dude but wasn't it you that said all the ailments we all suffer from are a figment of our imagination? Dr. Marty says ignore it because it isn't there. That will be ten thousand dollars. Payment do as soon as you read this. . I prescribe tobacco and whiskey because that kills anything that you can imagine! Get well soon.
  19. October 1st to October 9th to thin down the resident population some. Then November 20th to February 6th of next year.
  20. Looks like hide the snake vine to me
  21. @laker67, Ours is ordered Sandy. Thanks for posting the link!
  22. This is why I love this place. In general, we have some of the neatest people hanging around here. Again, thank you to @Phil Lilley and the good folks on this site!
  23. It is and was. Actually, gets me kind of giddy. You could hear them long before seeing them with the fog. The geese came from three different directions to converge in the immediate area. Some landed right in front of me in the corn stubble, some into a corn silage field and some in a grass pasture.
  24. Not a bunch nine and a bonus pigeon. I spent more time watching other things this morning. Extremely foggy early and local Canada geese in and out of the field I was hunting. Others just passing over and should be a good early season in October. A mummeration of blackbirds. Missed recording the best of the bunch. 58 degrees when I started. Once had a chill run up my spine. We are so ready for cooler weather. VID_20220907_074718314.mp4 VID_20220907_071202595.mp4
