  1. Would be nice but out of my reach.
  2. Four to five here last night. More tonight but I think we are going to miss part of that. This is what I looked like getting back from running and pulling a half dozen beaver traps. A mile round trip on ATV at 20 degrees in a blizzard. Frozen moustache and iced glasses. Have not been that cold in a while. I will do a few pictures later.
  3. We did see a throwback about twelve years ago and then again about five years back. Before we lived here, we had a pet, Tom Turkey. The guy I bought it from called it a Spanish cross. I have no idea about its linage, but Pat seen it courting a wild hen in our yard. It bred her. Then we moved and the turkey came with us. It had a pen but called multiple hens to the fence so I would say the crosses are happening once and awhile.
  4. When I clean my tying room and start tying again. It's getting close
  5. I've been using that for a while. Good stuff.
  6. @tjm There has been some discussion about the big poultry farms having an effect on the wild turkey. Have you heard anything about that? That as the big turkey outfits got bigger coverage that is when there was a decline in the population. Something was being spread in the manure from farms and spread in fields and pastures. Is there anything to this? I'm not looking for conspiracy theories just scientific facts.
  7. Poor hatches and too many predators have them kind of thin in our parts but for the last month we had three tom's show up and are roosting on the 80 behind the house. Warm mornings they have been sounding off on the roost at daylight. Day before yesterday was really warm in the morning. All three got crazy. A sign of good things to come, I hope. This morning 'i bet the only concern was holding on tight to the limb they were roosting on.
  8. That's a smart forecaster. Never commit.
  9. What an accomplishment for a young man. Kudos to him. He will never forget.
  10. I just knew you were studying this. It is a good discussion. I have one. Set up with approate leaders with sighters in them. Just haven't tried it yet. Another tool in the arsenal.

  17. I would be willing to try sometime but the way it sounds will need some pressure cooking before or after frying. I am in the Wrench camp them being a filter feeder. Not high on my priority list.
  18. No because the way I understand it we literally eradicated polio didn't we? Eradication of polio has been defined in various ways—as elimination of the occurrence of poliomyelitis even in the absence of human intervention,[8] as extinction of poliovirus, such that the infectious agent no longer exists in nature or in the laboratory,[9] as control of an infection to the point at which transmission of the disease ceased within a specified area,[8] and as reduction of the worldwide incidence of poliomyelitis to zero as a result of deliberate efforts, and requiring no further control measures.[10] In theory, if the right tools were available, it would be possible to eradicate all infectious diseases that reside only in a human host. In reality, there are distinct biological features of the organisms and technical factors of dealing with them that make their potential eradicability more or less likely. Three indicators, however, are considered of primary importance in determining the likelihood of successful eradication: that effective interventional tools are available to interrupt transmission of the agent, such as a vaccine; that diagnostic tools, with sufficient sensitivity and specificity, be available to detect infections that can lead to transmission of the disease; and that humans are required for the life-cycle of the agent, which has no other vertebrate reservoir and cannot amplify in the environment.[11] Same with small pox How was smallpox wiped out? | World Economic Forum (weforum.org)
  19. So, Ryan you never swing a wooly Bugger? No lead added for weight on any bugger or nymph? I throw some pretty big stuff for big fish and my "flys" are heavy. My line does the throwing for those too. So, am I a fly fisherman or not? So back to trout fly fishing. Can the lead, copper, brass or tungsten bead take the place of lead on nymphs? Is this acceptable Judge and jury? Ok trout feed deep the majority of their lives on nymphs, correct? Lose all your weight on your nymphs and throw dries and we will see how that works out for you.
  20. Thanks for the info. I go way back with the buyers in Collins. Used to sell to Bud Keller. Have a buddy who traps out of Weaubleau and I took out the caster last year and gave it to him. If I do score on the otters if they are still there, I will take them to Kaatz.
  21. I may forget what Pat or for that matter anything someone tells me five minutes ago but long term I am doing good! Speaking of the past you probably don't want me to bring up the skunk deal do Ya?
  22. The BilletHead's send greetings too.
  23. Being curious I looked up beaver diets too, nothing said about eating anything but tree bark and greens including clover. I have a pond near Metz a guy wants me to do some pest control on beaver. Not worth anything but help a guy out I will. A couple otter followed me around the pond while I was scouting. Swam within 15 feet of me. When I showed him these pictures he really got wound up and really, really wants them gone. they were both fishing when I first seen them, come up with a small fish and crunch they were gone. The beaver had been eating his corn too. Second time I have witnessed that happening. Not the corn plant itself but cleaning the corn off the ears.
  24. Thanks John I was wondering if you were going to post up your pups! So, wasn't it lobster tail Ruby got off the counter?
