    What's Cooking?

Looking good my friend! Nice to see the deck is back.
  3. A bunch of shad fertilizer factories.
  4. Mutts as in not pure strains. You know that as a scientist. You can have a pretty smart crossbred animal.
  5. I want to see a genetic report on all three of these cutthroat species! In the words of someone else I say mutts! 🤣
  6. Yep that is where battery is and various settings for color and brightness.
  7. Hey I'm not real smart on this. The dial at eye piece does the eye relief Is that what you are saying? Then in front of that is magnification settings. 4.5 to 18
  8. I have never had glass this clear before. Side focus is the way to go IMO. Reticle is not like the one on the box. Check it out here. https://store.discovery-optics.com/collections/vt-3-sfp/products/discovery-vt-2-4-5-18x44-sfir-tactical-mil-dot-illuminated-with-side-focus-hunting-scope
  9. So I bought a hard case for my air gun today. Harbor freight. Apache. Pick and pluck foam. Good reviews. Look it up a video of it. I did get a case with this air rifle but to fit need to remove the moderator to put it in. I like this case. May need a air gun caddy at times to move it around. It is heavy. the thickness of the pick out foam is 2 inches then egg crate type foam on both sides. Plucked out a place and It holds two big tins of pellets. I used a 20% off coupon and it took the sting off a bit. Cost before coupon 149 bucks. Also have pistol and camera or other cases to protect things.
  10. Yes very true in bottomless beds but not in tub beds. Never waste a drop except a dribble out of overflow if I don't shut off hose fast enough.
  11. Some mega boxes have two bits. Actually found three one time. That and if a tornado hit you would be safer under my deck than in the house! You know that old saying. if a little does a little good a lot will do a lot of good.
  12. The BilletHeadVille desert, But if you bring irrigation to the desert things happen. It is time to break out the dehydrator out! Just guessing there is 5 to 10 times more that will be harvestable soon. We again this season have been blessed. Bunch more cucumbers today also. Need to start picking peppers. Think I will start with serrano peppers. Some for using fresh and then smoke and dry. I think I will separate my three types of hot peppers to smoke and dry. Then grind each one and make dust from hell with each and see if I can taste the difference of each. We once bought some smoked serrano salt. Good stuff and no reason I cannot make it myself.
  13. Ok told you all I like screwing. My preferred building attachment. Not just for deck building. Keeps me from having several styles of screws. Just a few lengths. They can be removed and used again. So here you go @Ham 48 and this doesn't include tips I have lost or that are in tool bags.
  14. If you find enough at one place get extra. Our lumbar yard (home base) will take back what you don't use.
  15. Going to be quite a few.
  16. Oh what are you thinking. I have screwed so much I have a pile of those torx bits! I am now wondering just how many? Actually I will gather and count this afternoon when I get home. These are the ones Ham spoke of that come in screw boxes.
  17. Boy that will be a bunch of screwing. Will almost screw yourself to death. I agree that is the way to go. Screwing can pull down and straighten some crooked boards. Torx heads for sure. Hope you can find lumber. Shelves are pretty empty. Have fun and good luck. Nice to have a project to keep yourself busy.

    Cast iron

Well two down and two more in the E-tank, Thought they turned out nice being the age of them. The Gem Pan circa 1850s to real early 1900s. The SBL Griswold is an early handle style. Circa 1939-1944. The more these get used the more carbon will form turning them black. A batch of gems in next few days. YUM!
  20. First time growing Peter Pan squash. I assume a variety of Patty Pan squash. It just bloomed today. Not sure how to use it or if we will like it. Soon we will get an answer. So, so dry here. Garden is really sucking up the water. I have two little chestnut trees out of 14 that are really struggling. Not sure if they will make it. Been giving them ten gallons at a time. An IV of sorts. Slow siphon so there is no run off. Five gallon buckets. Today each got 20 gallons. Fingers crossed. we are missing all the rains. Storms seem to fizzle out or split and go around us. Farmers with no irrigation are not happy. Corn burning up in certain fields.

    Cast iron

Thanks Tho1mas, Guess I may try to revisit it again. Use the bacon fat as some recipes say. How brown do you let the bread get before calling it good? Same as you once seasoned nothing gets soap. Just hot water and a nylon stiff brush or a nylon scrub pad. Then on stove top with a little heat to dry. If it isn't real carboned up like you a shot of Pam and then wiped.
