So far no problems with furry critters on tomatoes. Over all the years maybe a possum or coon ate one right on the vine. Did have a deer munch on the top of a pepper plant this season. Some tomato hornworms pulled off and a spritz of seven spray applied. Now Pat's hostas are getting demolished by deer now.

The Tomato Jungle, Its looking like a good tomato harvest coming to BilletHeadVille this season. Tall and loaded with fruit. Our snow peas were a bust. Not sure why they had started so well. Pulled them and planted some Peter Pan Patty Pan squash. Do have some one inch cucumbers and lots of blooms. Some peppers forming and blooms loading each plant. Lots of watering now. Had a shower this morning but did not amount to anything special,

What are you listening to?

So I'm not much downloading music since dial-up internet and Napster. There is a blast from awhile back. I still use CDs. Have not bought a new one in some time but am always looking. So last Saturday we were in town for supplies. One of the churches in town was having a fundraiser garage sale for a mission trip. I sent Pat in to recon the sale and how crowded it was. She popped out and said hardly anyone and some CDs in there. So I went in. Score! 50 cents each and all some were mint. The Dave Matthews is a three disc set. All are greatest hits. Nora Jones will melt your heart. Yes I donated much more. -

New vehicle and boat!

Told you crappy pic. I did not tell leadfoot Pat to slow down plus I thought it might offend them if we stopped ahead of them and I got out and took a good shot. Contrary to most belief I am a pretty nice guy. -

I have seen this on 13 highway just North of Osceola. They had on kayak on top of the buggy and four stacked on trailer I did get a blurry picture. -

I hit the text and see what I think it is.

Berkleys and black staining polypore look similar and are edible although I don't care for them like I do the hen.

Good looking loafs Rick! That sourdough starter from Ness is pretty special. We have not missed baking the bread each weekend since we got it. We are a day off this weekend but I will bake tomorrow. Last weekend we did two. One a 50/50 mix with coarse stone ground whole wheat flour and white bread flour. It was great! I am finding the starter getting more complex in taste picking up on its new environment here in BilletHeadVille.

Looks like a hen of the woods to me. Is that a recent find or last Fall? Hens are a fall mushroom. If it is not more id is needed.

Thanks Rick and yes I salute all of you dads out there ! Brats and kraut for me today. Grill the brats and pitch them in the hot kraut.

Chanterelles should be starting. Hot weather they like also. Egg yellow to farm egg orange yellow. They also smell fruity. Like apricot I think. Google it up Pete some neat stuff. https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/search?f[0]=field_fg_types%3A5589 There is at least one picture of mine on here. Cinnabar chanterelle I find most of mine in sandy loamy soil.

One thing I like to do is procure my own proteins actually anything too that I can grow or forage as a matter of a fact. I realize that everyone cannot or choose not to do. That's cool I like a good steak once and awhile. Priced some Thursday and it bugged my eyes out. So here again I post a squirrel recipe. Yes have done that before but if I could break in one of you non believers to this treat I would cook it for you. Besides the squirrel there is garlic, onions, almonds, fingerling potatoes and olives in it. Broth and some white wine too. A slow simmer even makes the toughest meat fall off the bone and it was needed as these four squirrels were old ones. I mark them this way when I put them up. Only one came from the freezer. One from yesterday and two from this morning. Blessed we are to be in more control of what we consume here in BilletHeadVille. Squirrel Aurora. Next time I will sub native pecans or the Chestnuts I grow for the place of the almonds I don't. I give credit to hank Shaw for this recipe and it has opened my mind to what I can do in the future..

We are actually dry here now. If we get a couple good rains the forest will be in bloom with fungus!

God created all of us. And that being said genetics show we are all also out of Africa. Flame away boys I am in an I don't really care mood today

No I haven't but would like to. Is seed available still? Plant anytime or fall crop?

You very much need a very quiet PCP air rifle.

Nice Ryan! Been there done that. Good stuff.

No issues with anything but a tick or two on them this time of the year. They eat just as good as other times of the year. Took out six in three days. I have a shop that is cool. When one is dead go straight to shop to clean. Sit in a chair doing it. PCP Air rifle. Silent and quick humane kill. All in the noggin. Meet Popeye. He went down yesterday.

Another place raised beds shine. Even in the short sided ones never had an armadillo get in them. Squirrel does minimal damage digging. I welcome those to our yard. I invite them to dinner.

Of all the dillow encounters never had that happen once. The 120s and 160s are small. A cat maybe I know a few guys do set the 160s for coon in trails. These are legal on land sets where the 220s have to be elevated in barns or that size or the 330s underwater. A neighbor has a beaver problem In their ponds. Asked me if I could help. got the local GW a friend come out and get me going. Left me some 330s. Those literally scare the crap out of me. I have heard too many horror stories about those. Got some set. Spooky I tell you. Was a pair of young males. I got one and the other left. Thought I did good but this spring one came back. Will deal with him in cooler weather.
