  1. This is not posted to be political. This is for humor only! My buddy up near Herman built a long hive and wants to trap his one swarm. He built a couple swarm traps. No luck so far so before placing this one he did some original art work. My respond when getting this text was. This offer will get you a swarm of liberal bees quick. Only problem you will have is when feeding your new swarm syrup they will soon learn to depend on you are refuse to work like normal bees and expect the syrup from now on. Sent it to another OAF member. His response went something like this. These bees will not learn to social distance and catch the virus and die out

    What's Cooking?

That is what we normally do Randy but freezer space is tight right now.

    What's Cooking?

You know I do Mike. That will also not take up freezer space. Thanks. Don't know why I did not think about that. Good call man.

    What's Cooking?

Yes I know that but picking was going slow. It kept timing out and shutting off. I use the tare all the time. This scale is a neat gizmo!

    What's Cooking?

Not salty tasting at all. The only salt in there is what I put on the meat before dumping in. I assume I can freeze it. Over the years we have just got rid of it. Not this time.

    What's Cooking?

More of todays cooking, Brined two pair of goose breasts in 1/2 gallon of water, 1/2 cup kosher salt and 1/2 cup brown sugar overnight. This morning they were pulled out and rinsed off. Each salted and peppered then each into its own bag with rosemary and minced garlic then sealed and dropped into the sous vide cooker @134 degrees for six hours. Tried to time this for Pat's return home from work. Just about right. Got them out of the sous vide bag and dried off. Into a big skillet of some goose fat to brown, While I was babysitting that Pat hit the garden and picked lettuce. Then as she gathered the rest of the sandwich stuff I thinly sliced one of the breasts. Tasty and so tender. Built our sammaches , Another breast for in a day or two. Then two to freeze for another day.

    What's Cooking?

Today was a good day to work up some carnitas meat. Two pairs each of turkey legs, thighs, wings and the oysters from each birds back. Again I was told this stuff is not worth keeping. Too much trouble and not worth it by two of OAF members who I consider friends. They know who they are:) . So it is salted. Then into a pot of herbs and spices for a day long simmer. Then pulled out to cool and pick. Hey look at them bones picked clean! So was it worth it? Yeppers for an extra ten or fifteen minutes cleaning the bird and cooking it yes for sure. Some fine meals in this pile. 4.66 pounds of worth it. The bowl was weighed at 15.44 ounces so I called it a pound. @rps I have a question chef. I strained almost to gallons of seasoned broth. I look at it every time I make a batch of meat like this. Tossed it until this time. What are my options for using this? It is real tasty.
  8. I do too but not openly You are just a bad guy if you do bad things. I don't plan on that.

    What's Cooking?

I have always thought white sauce would be good on spaghetti o's.
  11. Ok I pinched off 20 assorted buds and three blooms. When Pat askes what happened to them I am going to say Ness said to get them off pronto.
  12. Pink crocks and the tie dyed rainbow t shirt I think this is a ploy from the left leaners. Funny no matter how you look at it.
  13. Oh don't tell me that. You just want me to take a rest and a nap so you can use the boat
  14. I got a preview, I got a preview! 🤪

    What's Cooking?

I hope you do find a patch. I did a positive ID on the honey mushrooms last fall but did not get any. Those things are up and too far gone in one day. Hoping for a second flush but it did not happen. Not going to make that mistake next time.
  19. How long should we pinch them off?

Looks good John! Where's the beef? . Hidden under all those tasty shrooms.
  23. Wrench is going to love that the government will be involved! @fishinwrench Does water flow constantly or just during runoff? If it doesn't I wonder if the DNR needs to be involved. I realize everything runs downhill into the total watershed.
  24. Man I wish you or other members were closer. We started a full starter tray. I am not sure how many it held but a bunch. Overplant because you never know what may happen to your starts. So in the ground we planted fifteen plants. The rest were given away. I actually think hold 78 plants. Do the math more left than stayed.
  25. They don't like wet feet either! Go away rain, Some of ours are a foot or more tall too. Several starting to bloom. Would like a tomato soon but if these first blooms done make it, it will be ok. Would rather go to plants initial growth spurt. Peppers look like crap. Two croaked so I bought replacements. A serrano and a Marconi to take their place. Stupid cool weather. My new bee colony haven't been out of the hive for two days. Well heck I haven't been out to do much for days either.
