I understood that in what you had said. It wasn't just a fly that cuts the mustard as far as quality in the first tyes, it was what I wanted in the end of type of fly I visioned. "Tweaking the pattern" When we started tying those thread midge pupae we tried all kinds of colors and flash just to see the effect.

I feel your pain Tjm. I picked my pattern. Took me three to get exactly what I envisioned. Those three will work but I will keep those for Pat and I. Now I have three more and working on the forth of the eight needed for the swap.

You know Cody I was hoping you would chime in. I don't know anyone that didn't like Richard. He and I could have some real disagreements and could still like each other. Funny I made this post and the next day I got an alert it was Micah's birthday. Richards oldest grandson. We got to basically watch Micah grow up to a fine young man. No wonder because Micah came from some good stock.

No kidding it's got crazy! We still fish trout it fills a niche I need to itch once, and awhile plus picky trout sharpen your skills. There are all kinds of fish to chase where we live but it's warm water. Recent stocker trout are pretty stupid and taken out quickly. There are some that finally go feral and picky. Funny we match out wits with something that has a teeny tiny brain. They come up to check out offering then we witness a refusal. Stupid fish or stupid fisherman?

Yes, they will. I have also done some in primrose and pearl, pink, red and of course in zebra midge colors. Thought about tan. What colors are we missing?

We once again set down at the vices this morning. Let's see how Pat did downsizing a bit. Today we did thread midges. Rusty and olive. Hook TMC 2499 SP-BL. Wicked sharp and barbless with a wide gap. Yes you might loose a fish or two if you let your line go loose but in the net with one flop of the fish they unhook themselves. Size 14 but make your midge like an 18. Fish could care less about the hook if they are biting they a focused on the midge. Pat got a bit long on the midge size but so do I at times. She feels cross-eyed right now.
