  3. Well done Ronnie! Thanks for the write up and share, BilletHead
  4. Chief Pat is one of those very compassionate people. It did not surprise me she got right in the middle of it. In her job she nurses for the doc she works with. More than one nurse in that office. When patients call or come in they ask for her on the phone or to be roomed. She is good with the old and young and curmudgeons like me . if our minds stay in good shape I think we will know when to give it up. If our minds fail this is when we could get in trouble not knowing when to quit. Yep our days are numbered JD. My mom always said do it while you can. She said she and dad when he was still alive wanted to this and that but decided another time would be better. That other time did not happen and to this day she says go for it what I tell her we would like to do something. Her mind is failing fast now and I see I will probably go that route and may learn the hard way when I have to quit. Sorry Wrench you were the first to hear what happened when we were over there this weekend. Then you had to read it now. Felt like some good food for thought for all of us. We sometimes need reminded things like this to keep us humble. Me too on the memories. I remember the last time my Dad and I fished together. He had polio and wore leg braces. Tough to get him in and out of the boat. When we did manage it was so fun. Wish I had more time with him. Guys if you are listening we don't want you to look back and wish you had done more. Do it now! BilletHead
  5. Me too Griz! Everyday I depreciate more and more. My trade in value is gone. Next place I will end up is in the junkyard. Maybe drag me into the nearest field so I can be recycled ? BilletHead
  6. I ask the question, Just when will you decide to give up fishing? I have a story from this past Friday to share. We fished a couple hours at Bennett Springs. At the store getting our tag I noticed an older gentleman exit the store, light up a cigar. I have no idea why he caught my eye but he did. We found a place to park and wader up near the hatchery outlet. We generally try to park here and work our way up towards the dam and on up farther if we decide to. As Pat and I were building our rods, then pat started putting on her waders as I put new line on her reel. I then noticed the same guy heading towards the water, rod in hand. He entered the water, no waders. Acted like he knew what he was doing like he had been there many times. Pat was waiting on me to wader up when we heard a splash and the old fellow went down. He began to flounder between to other guys. They both went to his side to help him to his feet. Pat said I got to go and laid her rod on the bench and headed into the water. There was a girl on the bank in a scrub top watching closely and I think it was maybe his caregiver. She never went in just stood there. The guy could not seem to get his feet under himself right. Pat got in the middle of the mess and they all got him up and she walked him to the shore as one of the guys took his rod over to the bank and the caregiver. The guys went back to fishing and Pat and the other girl got the man to his car. Pat asked if he had dry clothes, he said yes and began to tear up. Told Pat thank you and all he wanted to do was to fish one more time. Then grabbing her he said I guess this is my last fishing trip and it is time to quit. He got into the car and the girl he was with drove him off. Pat came back to me and the truck in tears and then I kind of lost it too. Before fishing we just sat there and talked about what had just happened. So when will we know? This old guy seemed to know and decided on the spot. Fishing is really something we can do well into the twilight of our life. Other hobbies not so much. I hope I have help to keep me going as long as possible. Maybe they will find me and have to pry the fly rod out of my cold dead fingers? Would rather go that way instead of playing cards, checkers, bingo or dominos , BilletHead
  7. If we only had your video talent Drew . Could of had some real neat clips to put together. A lot of laughing and screaming and carrying along like kids. We were serious about doing this but had so much fun along the way. BilletHead
  8. When you get the time and are ready I have places for you to visit , BilletHead
  9. A bit of a throw down , As some of you may of read of Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead's trip to Utah fishing we got our Cuttslam certificates with collector medallions in the post a couple of weeks ago. We got them mounted and matted in a frame together. When we did our Wyoming slam we did in separate frames. Since we are a husband and wife team this one looks nice. On line I seen we are number 183 and 184 to complete this and the first and only ones from Missouri to do it so far. Fun trip and fishing in each of the four fish in their native range. If anyone is interested in taking the challenge by all means do it, BilletHead
  10. Always interested Lee G. Seen my first group of whitefronts go over here two weeks ago and while the dog Sadie and I were walking early this morning a smallish group of fifty went over and before we made it to the house a big bunch of a hundred and fifty came over. They are on the move! Sounded real nice in the cool 52 degree morning , BilletHead
  11. Mr. Uncletube, Good to meet you too this weekend. Looking forward to your wisdom or whatever you call it. A guy cannot have too many friends and the Mrs. and I got some new ones this weekend, BilletHead
  12. Loved it! Pretty funny. BilletHead
  13. Looking forward to the report Ronnie! Yes the homewaters event and F3T was a pretty neat event. Both a first for The BilletHead's. Friday the Mrs. and I did a couple hours in the park. Actually pretty fun when we went as it was after most folks had caught their fish and not too many people out. Caught quite a few and missed one rather large brown. As we got to Fridays "Garage sale" we found some bargains at the vendors. While I was flapping my jaws and visiting I could see the Mrs. looking at the river. It wasn't long until she said I have to wader up and get into the water. She did and as Wrench mentioned she worked down river to the Wrench and friends camp. She caught and did some big smile bragging on the secret "buzz ball" fly. I think three red tail shiners were landed too. We had taken a grill and goose fajitas to cook and really had nowhere to cook and Wrench and company let us do them in their camp site. Fired up the grill and went to work with the holy wok. Glowing coals, smoldering hickory and a few flames made the meal just right. Wrench watched and asked a few questions. I am not going to eat any of that goose. I gave him a slice of the flying fajita meat. He smelled it and popped the slice into his pie hole. His eyes opened wide and he smiled. When the onions and peppers finished the Mrs. and I heated the tortillas on the coals and we all dug in. Five of us hit the river behind camp and fished some. I think three red tail shiners were caught and one stocker trout between us. As far as the meal The only complaint I heard the next morning was from Wrench's daughter, seems as though it made him fart all night even running her out of their vehicle once for fresh air :). No one else had that side effect so I think it was from something else that may of been consumed after the BilletHead's had left. Next morning the BilletHead's awoke early to humid cloudy skies with rain in the morning forecast. We headed to the park not to fish but do some walking and to hear and observe the siren going off and the may lay of casting and first fish being caught. As this was going on we did the loop from where we parked from the spring to the hatchery trail and back on the other side about a mile and a half round trip. Back to the Wrench camp to find Wrench's friends doing biscuits and gravy, eggs and fried taters. We had done our morning bowl of Mrs. BilletHeads homemade granola cereal but was invited to partake to more breakfast. We had a biscuit and gravy and it was great. For some reason Wrench slept through breakfast and had to be awakened to eat before it was all gone . It began to rain and we got out of the mess after helping pick up. The mornings several half hour talks at the event got cancelled during the off and on hard rains. When it did clear the weather and northerly cool winds made things quite nice. That evening before the movies we again went to the Wrench camp for a visit. This is where we had to witness and hear about the spider man undies and witness the burn in our eyes as he modeled them. I think he may of lost his Spidey sense or his mind temporarily . His daughter just lowered her shook her head back and forth. We all grabbed our lawn chairs and headed to the boat and canoe ramp for the movies. Yep it was a neat set up with the screen at the bottom part of the ramp and the slope is where everyone set up to watch. It began to get pretty cool and the long pants and sweatshirts felt nice. Our first time at the F3T viewing and the selections shown were neat. We said our goodbyes to our new friends. Next morning we were out of there and headed back home. We enjoyed meeting Wrench's friends and visiting them. Especially Amber Wrench's daughter. He did good there with her. Great young lady and she was quick putting it on her dad every chance she had need to. We could see that the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. A lot of Wrench DNA in her but much, so much better looking than him ! Mrs. BilletHead and I were impressed with her for sure, BilletHead

  21. Something has to give, I am doing some purging and have magazines to give out. Some in binders and some loose. Many years of memories and good information. Primitive archer Loaned out the first issues and they did not make it back home but still have many, many issues Instinctive Archer starting with issue one Spring of 1996.
