Only use the ladder stand to hunt with. The other two were freebees and the wood was just wired up there for the trap! If Pat helps tomorrow we will take advantage of the neighbors tree stand ;).

Swarm traps, With the weather progressing to the better it is time to think about putting out swarm traps. I read where when the daffodils begin to bloom it is time to get them out. With Pat's help we got out four. The plan is to provide a place for a swarm to call a home. Then I move their new home to our yard and slip them into a hive we built. Three of these traps are near wild hives where I scored swarms last year. The other is overlooking a bunch of clover in road between a hedge row and timber. When placing swarm traps, you look for the trifecta. What bees need. Water, fields and forest to forage in. The traps are just a small box containing frames corresponding to the type of hive I will slip them into. The frames in the traps contain at least one with drawn out brood comb ready for the queen in the swarm to start laying and developing a new colony. A couple drops of lemongrass oil which is supposed to smell like a queen. I also have set up our existing empty hives as swarm traps too. I have never had a swarm move into a hive but @jdmidwesthas and experienced it. I think he has posted the picture on here. It was a very big swarm. Tomorrow if Pat will help, we can put out more traps.

Thanks, I did know the Ursus part but admit had to google to narrow it down further. If nothing else got some to further their education. -

Thank you @Bgctrading for the report. A couple more questions for you please. I knkw about the low water at 10c and the challenge of launching included. Do you think a jet could run up at this time and was there anyone with trailers parked under the bridge? Like everyone else getting pretty antsy to make the trip there to fish. BilletHead

Another creek another day. I first will say the catching was not off the charts like it was the day before. This creek is more popular with public access up and down it. We met another forum member and his wife (Ursus arctos horribilis). This trip for visiting and fishing together. We wadered up and hit a section of the creek with private access. We all fished nymphs and dries. This section is thick with brush and trees along the bank. Had to get in and out of the water to fish here and fish are highly spook able. Seen a few fish but no hook ups. I do not think I even had a take but do know Pat missed a couple on the buzzball. So out of the creek we went and back to a park for a picnic lunch prepaired by Mrs. Ursus arctos horribilis :). Great eats and fantastic visit. Remember it's not all about the fishing that makes a great day it is the whole package that you experience. So, we regrouped and went further up the creek to another access and walked down the trail to the water. Water so clear with gravel bottom. Log jams here and there with deeper washed-out holes here and there. We all started to fish with the birthday girl blazing ahead. We kind of leap frogged places. Pat and I are kind of run and gun while our dear friends are more matriculas in their chosen spots. first hook up was like this. Both Pat and I were using the pink squirrel under an indicator as no fish were rising. She was fishing above a log jam where it was washed out above. I dropped in a mid-stream slot below it and with broken water on top you could not see the bottom clear. I changed to a larger heavier nymph (north fork special size 10) and first drift connected with our first catch of the day, A quick picture and pushed on farther up the creek. Again, it repeated itself the same way with fish number two and I began to feel guilty, We rounded a bend and began to see some dimpling ahead of some takes on the top. Some dries got tied on to attempt to fool these risers. No real serious takers. Slower sections of the creek and gin clear water made it tough. These fish get pounded to death; I am sure. We see no other fishermen or fisherwomen but lots of day hikers enjoying the weather. One pool Pat named the aquarium. In this place you could see the fish and if you can see them, they knew you were there too. An errant cast and it was game over. A dozen or more were in here and a couple rather large ones lounging on the bottom. While Mr. and Mrs. Bear worked the place over Pat and I made a dash ahead as it was getting later to get her at least one fish. I had quit fishing at this point and we cherry picked the spots. She got two more hits on top that missed and two more takes on the nymph rigs. Here is the nymph I caught on, This fly was created by our close friend Tim Wade who owns and runs North Fork Anglers out of Cody Wyoming. We go way back with Tim. Here is a couple of videos of the fly, So it was time to drag up and prepare to bug out and head home. Day was still a success and can't wait to fish with friends again. Report over and BilletHead's out. Thanks for reading guys and gals.

We all know Phil has groupies in the St Louis area that make trips to fish all night marathons that can transport items stowed away in piles of sea monster catching gear.😆 -

Going to share a trip report. Not the place but report and what worked. Pat is off this week. Her birthday is St. Patrick's Day. I asked her what she wanted to do. Duh dumb question she wanted to fish, and it was up to me of where to go. I suggested this place and she lit up. We have made this trip several times. Fun little place. Wadered up at 8 and quit at noon. So, I had tied up some pink squirrel nymphs and buzzball flies. Goal was to use them. We hit the little creek and gave it a go. Pink squirrel under indicator two to four feet deep. fish were at the base of broken riffle water through the deeper runs below. I'm thinking in the most oxygenated places. they flat hammered the nymph so well in fact that is all we used until the last fish. Pictures tell the story. Most fish four to six inches. One was eleven inches plus. Landed 25 plus. Happy wife happy life, Ya think they liked the pink squirrel? Parr marks, fire orange bellies and white fin tips, Stealth! I even caught a few:) An oddball , So last fish I was again floating the nymph through a place. Couple bumps but before we quit noticed some black caddis coming off the water and another hatch of small something. I tied on a buzzball. Missed two on the dry and then buzzball connected on the third time. Bingo mission accomplished. Good day!
