Lets see a swimming pool and sunglasses. You muse be getting ready for summer or google at least thinks so. Hey that's one of those pools with generated current. Does google think you need a workout to loose weight? Kind of actually surprised there is not an advertisement for a weeding cake :), BilletHead

Spring has sprung and the whites are on the run

Ranger Dave, Many, many guys are blowing through with jets. That's what I have but not a triple digit HP. We did see a few props last week up there that carefully picked their way through. BilletHead -

I have been known to once or twice google, kill, trail, gut, clean, butcher and consume the kill. What is wrong with folks nowadays? Phil does some kind of bot or whatever report this or does a human complaint cause the problem? Since an add was pulled does that effect the forum ? BilletHead

Your a good man Mike. I bet Quill helps out too. I for one am not going to let Mrs. BilletHead see this. Don't need anything added to my honey do list. BilletHead

Finally got down there for the first time this year. Thanks to the guys here who have made reports. Long daily drive from BilletHeadVille for a scouting trip and reports help. Some guys don't report and I get that especially smaller streams but this place is big and popular so no secrets. it is a fun place to fish. Curtise OA forum member and my friend made trip today with me. Fun to fish with and we have many things in common. We can joke and give each other a bad time and still go home friends. The way it should be. I think we finally arrived at the ramp around 7:30 and prepared to launch. The lot was pretty full and a launch line had formed. We have fished enough together out of each others boats we know the drill and we were launched quick and headed up river. A fog had formed and heading into the sun was bad. We ran up to where we had caught fish before and along that area several boats had gathered. Must be the place to be and we slid in line. I rigged up the fly rod and Curt tied a chartreuse marabou jig on his line. I tied on a pink over white clouser. Curt caught a couple and I noticed others were throwing white of chartreuse offerings. I quickly changed gears and put on chartreuse over white and began to catch myself. Throwing towards the bank stripping some a pause or two and letting the clouser swing. Curt did the same. Fish were caught in three to maybe to ten foot deep. Even threw opposite side of boat and caught in the middle. Fish were somewhat scattered. Sometimes one in a spot sometimes two or three could be caught. More and more boats came up and joined the flotilla. At one time there was twenty to twenty- five watercraft in our view, Early Curt got pretty cold. I never did. Cannot figure out who is messed up this way bit figure a mix of both of us makes one normal person :). One thing I noticed all the fisher people in all these boats worked well with each other. Much visiting from boat to boat. Friendly bunch. Only seen a couple of boaters I thought were out of line. I know a boat on plane produces less wake. I get that but one shoalrunner decided to do a run slalom ski style through some fisherman. I mean close to them. I call it crap. You had to get your bait down to the bottom or as close as possible. I used 250 grain sink tip line. I got down and snagged often. Not sure what was on the bottom but I could stretch the fly line and let it pop back. I never lost a clouser. Curt caught some on plastic and briefly threw his fly rod and caught on that too. We don't think his line was getting him far enough down today. Normally he and I run neck to neck but today I caught the most. All sizes caught mostly males, Fishing really slowed down for us shortly before noon although others continued to catch a few. We both hooked bigmouth buffalo. My one came unbuttoned as one of Curts. He landed his second and he also caught a blue cat that was three pounds or so. We did not keep anything today just catch and release. We heard there were less boats yesterday and catching was better. Go figure should have been there yesterday! We have all heard that sometimes in our trips. This being said we have all been the ones there yesterday too! There was two fine gentlemen we talked to that was there yesterday and they cleaned 200 whites. That is allot of fish cleaning. At the ramp cleaned carcasses all over. Water temp was 53 so soon it will really be on big time!, BilletHead

MNtransplant, Not sending you out to buy other colors but chartreuse over white and blue over white work. Just saying , BilletHead Those jigs are nice man. Not sure if my clousers are sparse enough Ronnie but they are fishing just fine . BilletHead

Decided to give it a go this morning. Boy it was foggy launching at 7:30 this morning. I just went slow watching and depending on my last track by GPS on my fish finder map. I did not want to trust it I was all turned around but it took me to where I wanted to go. Again I ended up using floating line and pink over white clousers. Did try a couple other colors but did not stay with them long as the bite was real slow. I think the fish were in a neutral to negative mood. I would throw out and let the clouser swing downstream my line would bow and I would watch that bow for a tick them gave a strip set. With that bow in the line I did miss a half dozen strikes. I don't think the fish wanted to chase but if the fly came by their face the fish snapped at it. Caught fourteen whites and one spotted bass. I did however catch three or four nicer ones today and a couple of those were pushing 15 inches. I pulled out at noon. I hope the afternoon guys get a good bite, BilletHead

Minn Kota vs MotorGuide ??? Help!!
BilletHead replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
I know Seth and I sent that question to the same guy I have been talking to for the last few days. In his last reply he said mine was probably GEN 1 and wouldn't work but your link I know says the adaptor will work. So far no answer from them. That stupid little wire adaptor I hope isn't 36 bucks down the tube, BilletHead -

If I cant get this deal resolved I may have to get with you on how you mounted your transducer and ran wires to keep untangled. Not able to upgrade at this time. I know I don't really need a front unit but I spent the bucks for the motor and want to use all features. BilletHead -

I think you might be safer to launch at Twin Bridges with that sized boat. The ramp at 10 is much better than it was in the past but depending on how tall your trailer is you may have to back out real far in the water. I have a 3/4 ton truck that sets pretty high and when I launched there two years ago to float off trailer my tail pipe was bubbling under water, BilletHead -
I seen that! There were two guys fishing by it or I would of pulled the boat to shore and took a snooze. BilletHead

Minn Kota vs MotorGuide ??? Help!!
BilletHead replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
Jeff I am having trouble right now with this issue. I bought an adaptor that the website says will work with my unit. A Helix 5 DI GPS. So I could not get it working. Did the support deal with Minnkota. They had me download an update so I installed that and still no go. Contacted them again with more questions. Last contact they said GEN 1 units wont work but the Minnkota site said the adaptor I bought would work? Still trading contact with the support people. We will see. Seth that is all I need up front but doesn't seem to work on all 2D units. Hoping for the best. Talking to Duane he doesn't even use a unit up front anymore. He doesn't even use the front of the boat. Watches his big unit in the back and operates with the handheld remote back there. BilletHead -
Minn Kota vs MotorGuide ??? Help!!
BilletHead replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yep Duane is right I have the terrova and like it. So far my spot lock is dead on. I think it is all I need as I don't spend much time on open water so don't need the I-link . When I need that I suppose I will fish with liphunter when he upgrades . As far as auto deploy I have heard horror stories about them getting stuck and actually witnessed that on the Spring River last week. Three guys messing with one on a boat trailer and it was deployed. They were pulling and twisting and gawking at it like a tree full of owls. I am betting it was stuck. Again I am new at newfangled trolling motors. I think you should listen to your friend @duckydoty , BilletHead
