  1. Dogs are the reason God created birds
  2. Let me bring this back to life Last sunday on WE LOVE IT OUTDOORS on Fox North Channel the Fellow is guiding Al Linder on Mil Lacs smallmouth good show catching 4 & 5 lb smallies on light tackle on hair jigs and or live fatheads when a 4lb gets eaten by a 53 inch muskie swallowed whole they brought it in measured and released did not weigh it.
  3. The "rule " when I started tying a long time ago was hair in moving water and Maribou in still water Didn't seem to matter on the water. I know I tend to overthink patterns at times. My only rule was Black, Brown, Yellow or White. Then all the synthetic material showed up and I just started having jigs tied for me. More time for fishing.
  4. We used to call that LDR "long distance release"
  5. SHUT UP.... When I win the powerball you will be hired as my market hunter and outdoor Executive Chef How are you with Pheasants?
  6. I can't let it go , you go out hunting something that doesn't exist and you shoot one of your group........... brilliant
  7. +++...........It was in Oklahoma
  8. Chief I thought Strike King had stopped making the Spence Scout. I liked the two different line ties so you could fish the two different depths. Used to really produce around the weeds on Lake Catherine on the Ouchita chaini
  9. One thing people forget was, unless you lived near the rivers it was quite an adventure getting there from the StL or KC areas narrow roads open range( I remember one a 1957 trip to Alley Springs were we had to twice get out and chase cattle off the roads after they had decided to take a snooze on the sun warmed road bed) it took quite awhile to get there and there were no credit cards so you had to carry cash for emergencies. So a trip down to the rivers was a maybe a once a year deal and seemed like a much adventure tan it was.............No it was like spending a few days in Heaven every summer
  10. WOW thanks for the pics
  11. Drew, I ask Mike Webb that question last month when I saw him at Bps last month. He told me the only jerk bait he has in his boat ix a 4" XRap and the only color he uses is hot pink. When I asked why he said it cast great and consistent reliable performance and it can be used as a cold water jerk bait and a warm water slash bait and it catches more fish for him than any other jerk baits. So I guess I'm putting my Rogues on the shelf if not on craigslist. Whenever I get rid of this pneumonia I, going to have a 4' hot pink XRap as my only Jerk bait.
  12. yaknar, thanks for the pics, pneumonia has got me shut down so any colors I see on the river this year will be photos. So thanks again.
  13. History ignored is history repeated. Grist mills and water power were high tech at the time. In 2009 I road on the Erie canal out of Pittsford NY most people don't understand the signifigence of the Erie Canal and how it changed American history or even the Eads Bridge over the Mississippi at St Louis. People with your attitude burned the Library at Alexandria. Lack of history lead large cities in Europe to be built in Europe without sanitary sewers even though 1500 years prior the Romans had flush toilets and running water and sewers.
  14. Ness the first time I ever flew out of Cedar Lake in NW Ontario was in 1984 and we flew 30+ miles east to another lake at about 1,000 feet in a 1956 Beaver, The last time I flew was in 1999 in a 1956 Beaver I miss the flying more than the fishing. Spitfire was always my favorite fighter and B17 was my favorite bomber. I also was one of the first to see the stealth bomber running an Oak Grove turn out of Earth City had heard of them but never seen one before that day when it flew over me near Higginsville .....though it was Bat Plane ........took a lot of ribbing until pictures of them started showing up in the paper.
  15. Wayne, Gold spinner with a brown wooly worm fly was recommended by George "Beartracks" Carson I used it in the 70s at Meramec Springs at St James Mo with a spinning rod and a small lead weight on the line. Blakemore also made a 1/32oz Brown Wooly Worm jig that was a trout catcher. I worked with a guy who always used Hildebrand spinner whenever he used worms or minnows Swore by them
  16. My dads cousin fished after WW11 with guides and overnight camping once every summer with his Navy buddies until the dams were built. He had quit fishing by the early 60s most of his group had passed away or had family to take care and he said there were too darned many people on the water and it wasn't fun anymore. They fished in long river jon boats with guides and there was only one bait to use on the and that was Helgramites. They also used tubular steel rods. I wish I would have talk more to him about the white river..
  17. My fishing buddy uses braid with a flouro leader when fiashing jigs and texas rigged worms. Seems to work for him
  18. Quillback, It wasn't funny at the time except to my fishing buddy. Thought I was gonna lose my hand

    Chiefs

Hey, I got a guy down the street from me who predicts 16 and 0 every year. Of course he wears Chiefs sweats, shirts, shorts, has a chiefs flag on his flagpole in the yard, decals on his car and boat etc........and not many people talk to him
  20. Lee G I wish I had been born rich. Years ago taking a picture was a big deal and if you were poor you didn't get film developed until every picture was taken, so some times you would get pictures that had Xmas on the first part of the roll and Easter at the end. By the way congratulations to your sister and her team, mic
  21. I think this shows the difference in both leagues American League teams play like slow pitch softball play for the 3run home run National plays aggressive first to third Before the series started all I heard was Boston was going to run on St L which team has the most stolen base. Remember in 2006 Detroit pitchers couldn't throw the ball to 1st or 3rd base how many runs did StL get on pitchers errors. How can Boston leave Napoli on the bench and and not have Drew at SS and have Middlebrooks at 3rd base to turn Holidays ground ball into a double? Congratulations Phil, I only got to see opening game in 64 world series.
  22. I have been fishing crank baits on Trilene XL since it became available and in the green color since observation from the back of other fisherman,s boats and saw what they used. I never have really found a Flouro or braid that that I was comfortable with. I still prefer a glass cranking rod medium action,. In Table Rock or any clear lake I would use 8 lbs XL But I would have a second rod which a lot heavier line for throwing into docks or heavy brush. Really though the guy to ask would be the guides who fish Table Rock
  23. We didn't have posters when I was in school. I did have a Kodack Brownie camera.
