  1. I never used anything bigger than a size 2 hook on spinner rigs and that was when we were fishing minnows or leeches, 6 and 4 for crawlers. I used them because that was what the guides used up north and 12lb main line and 8lb or 6lb on the leader. I also agree with powerdive at least 99%
  2. Julie London and Perry Como and FRANK.....and a little Ellington and Glen Millers Band
  3. You need to talk to MIC, he lives in maybe the best fly fishing area in the Midwest around New Baden, Nashville , Millstadt , New Athens etc Living in St Louis I always had a non resident Illinois fishing permit and for 25 years I fished out of a 1967 Sears fiberglass Ted Williams jonfisher which I paid $119 for in 1968 and I went through I Shakeshere 2 Minnkota and one motor guide trolling motor. And I never felt I missed a thing. Once you found a pit or even better farm pond that produced big bluegill and quality largemouth you were in business.
  4. I agree with DaddyO its fun and tying a fly you designed and fishing that fly on a rod you built and finding a fish retarded enough to bite on that fly is a lot of fun. I also think it is a very inefficient way to fish but a lot of people enjoy it. I think a full moon in May or June and a fly rod on a farm pond or strip mine in the Midwest with a population of 10' bluegill may be as good as fly fishing gets, buts that's just me.
  5. Lindy's Livewell Liner at Reeds $19.95 been using it for a few years works great
  6. Wayne seems like there was a time BigO and Shad Raps couldn't be bought but were rented with a huge deposit required in the maybe early 70s or was that just a Stag beer fueled fishin' tale? Fairy tale = Once upon a time Fishin' tale = Guys this is a no bulls### story

  9. Got the newest copy of "Missouri Conservationist" and found there is a lot about crawfish I don't know and found a refined definition of Invasive Species. Never thought a craw from the James could be invasive in another stream Should have paid more attention in school......... One of my favorite outdoor magazines
  10. Just finished again Roughing It by Mark Twain

  12. Crank telephone.....safer then dynamite and quieter...........didn't have to worry about any thing catching on fire......always got a limit
  13. FT Sill 1961, but it got me as I was reaching for the soap bucket to start a 15 hour day washing pots and pans in the kitchen so my last day of KP at SILL ended after about 10 minutes and after I went on sick call I was able to malinger out of two more days of carrying a rifle and wearing a steel helment , every cloud has a silver lining Nothing good ever happened to me in Oklahoma
  14. I don't know everything........... just what I didn't forget.........I think I did know everything a long time ago.......but I can't remember anymore.......and I believe, looking back, there was a lot less to know........I think

Jack Buck and Steve doing commercials for the "decent boys" and does anyone else remember when Steve had the boat dealership and would sponser sunday afternoon movies on the UFO channel a long time ago and we were watching the sunday afternoon when Steve tried to prove the boat was fire proof and in the studio so he threw gas on the boat and lit it the boat was fire proof but the curtains on the set were not. If I remember on Monday he no longer had a boat dealership and all questions were refer to an attorney. those were fun times
  20. I didn't know they had 4 blade razors..........actually until I checked my razor, I didn't know that they had razors with 3 blades........I tried to go modern in the early 60s and bought a Shick instead of my Gillette but you couldn't pass inspection with an enclosed razor at FT Fort Leonard Wood so I went back to the Gillette until it wore out in the 70s but I still use Barbasol............tried them $3.00 Shaving creams but seemed like a waste of money.....and oh yea BilletHead I do splurge every once in awhile but I can't remember when......seems like it always involved slow horses and...........
  21. When we lived in Benton AR fig trees were quite common and the lady who lived across the street made fig jam with hers, mighty fine. She was a wonderful neighbor , I had 3 pecan trees and used to share them & got a lot of pecan pies in return. My bride said she didn't have her recipe. Good luck
  22. What was it H L Mencken said.............no one ever went broke underestimating the stupidity of the American buying public.........something like that.......and that other guy PT Barnum..........born every moment
  23. In September 1953 two alcoholic criminals from western MO kidnapped Bobby Greenlease murdered him and collected $6000,000.00rabsom. They were caught and both executed in December 1953, I think 91 days after the crime. This guywill not be brought to trial for months or years if he gets the death penalty will spend between 10 to 20 years on death row some stupid woman probably from England will marry him and tour Europe and the USA complaining about the cruel death penalty. He probably won't get the death penalty because he is mentaly challenged or whatever. Too many gutless judges and DAs Look at the gutless PA here in Green County who refused to ask for the death penalty for the piece of pig sh3t who murdered Jackie Johns years ago and only public uproar caused that gutless &%^(*to even bring the guy to trial years after her family told the police he was the killer
  24. Actualy I went to the garage to check my inflatable and forgot to post this yesterday I have a sospenders for 3 years and a BPS Onyx for 2 years for my wife, which when she's not with me I also have worn. Both off them are very comfortable and like jeb I don't get in a boat without them. Both off them were bought at the big BPS fishing sale at the beginning of the season at a really big discount. the only problem I have ever had was forgetting that I had left the spare in my live well and didn't have the drain plug installed and they got wet enough to inflate. Both of them can used as a manual only inflate vest
