  1. Maybe depth is the key. Not all fish spawn at the same time and I don't fish shallow so maybe I got the late spawners. I never even fished shallower than about 15'.
  2. Up the Little Sac but it was a few days ago and they looked ready to pop.
  3. None of the females that I caught on Thursday had spawned yet though they looked close.
  4. Two of my friends have owned the smaller trucks and pulled aluminum rigs with them. They both had auto. trannys so it may not help you much for my ovservation. Having ridden with both I noticed that the one with the 6 cyl engine just pulled it down the road while the 4 cyl had to down shift at every little grade.

    Crappie?

Some days have been good and some not so good. They have not spawned yet in the L Sac arm. Had 62 yesterday with only 13 keepers. Only 2 were females. They were from 12-20' deep.
  6. Redneck Trailer parts may have them. Or the parts place for BPS down on Campbell Street in Spfld.
  7. Rouark wasn't quite that bad but it was loaded with rigs in the overflow. Lots of folks wait till it gets warm before they go to the water. What amazes me as why more of them aren't at work during the week.
  8. Good service is all I have ever had from them. Glad to hear it is still that way.

    Fyi

On my way back from Rouark yesterday I decided to go to Greenfield and down 160 to Ash Grove. As I passed the intersection of 160 and 245 I noticed that the old worn out bridge has been demolished. It looks like a new one is being built and the road will probably be closed for a good while.
  11. Yep but we call them slicks.
  12. From your location I'd launch at Aunt's and fish up toward Cape Fair. The water up in the James is off color and the snaggers are everywhere. I was there yesterday. I caught several bass but the size was lacking. I fished from Cape to Walnut Spring. The farther up I went the worse the bite became.
  13. I talked to the creel guy up there last fall. He said he had only seen 7 whites all year long. Some friends of mine usually fish for them in the fall and do well. This year they had a grand total of 0 in 4 days so they left.
  14. Cougars and one black bear have been seen on my farms a couple of times but no wolves have ever been reported and I hope it stays that way.
  15. junebug, muscadine and catalpa slider grubs
  16. When crappie fishing I use a #4 hook. The size of head depends on how deep I am fishing and how much wind is blowing, but the lighter the better.
  17. I do when fishing in wood. I either use a fiber weedguard or a 7 stranded steel one. I make my own.
  18. They did stock them at Stockton. They all died out. Then they stocked Tiger Muskie. They all died out.
  19. I bought mine from Harry Cooper's in Springfield. This is the second house I have had with one and don't ever want to be without it.
  20. There are 670 acres with 20 on one side of a road and 650 on the other. There are no buildings. It is loaded with turkey and deer. As for the trout part, I haven't fished the creek in many years so I have no idea if trout are there or not.
  21. I have decided to part with some of my land. The part I am selling has a short distance along Crane creek. It is loaded with turkey and deer.
  22. The number one reason for an Opti to go like that is as you stated, failure to properly warm them up. I always wait till mine is 120° even during the day when I have been on a bank for quite a while. Bruce Tangora at Tangora marine in Nixa has been doing motors for a very long time. I had him do one for me a few years ago and wouldn't hesitate to call him again. Brian Hyter at Ulrich Marine in Branson West is a very good wrench also.
  23. I'm only guessing here but since the 15" length limit goes from Hooten Town down that may also be where the season changes.
  24. There were a few there over a month ago but not enough to make the long drive. If we don't get rain and have water coming out of Table Rock, I don't look for big numbers down that way this spring. BTW: They are up the James to Long's Camp according to rumor.
  25. Could it be a goggle eye? There are a bunch down there. Next time you catch one post a pic.
