    2014 Garden

We have thee flats with multiple varieties of tomatoes and peppers waiting to go to the greenhouse when we will transplant to peat pots. I need to start the cuc and broccoli seeds this week. Our last day of frost is later than yours, so we try to get some big transplants ready to go when the soil warms up.

    Dry Aged Beef

We dry aged a standing rib roast for Christmas using Alton Brown's guidance. However we did not finish it off in a 500 degree oven, but continued smoking it (water smoker) to 10 degrees below rare. Removed and put in a cooler to finish cooking and keep it warm until we were ready to eat. Came out perfect. We cooked it rare so that if anyone wanted it done more we could put those pieces in the oven to cook longer. You may also want to check out the recipie for Bobby Flay's red wine steak sauce. And if you smoke the roast don't forget the applewood chips.
  17. We built one from Harbor Freight two years ago. Come spring it will be packed with flats started indoors. If you go this route buy several packages of extra clips from a place like Charley's Greenhouse.
  18. If you have family you want to share the pictures and stories with you can put them in MS Word and then print to a .pdf with freeware like PDFCreator. I did this for my second cousin from Oslo who had lost track of our side of the family. I was also able to share the file with first cousins and their children. All the best, -Charlie
