  1. Moguy, any suggestions on a jet motor for say a 1436 or a 1648 jon? How small is too small? Is a 25/40 acceptable or should one go larger?
  2. Murv, it's not hard. You simply fish quick flowing water with a soft craw. It just works.
  3. Hog Wally, is that a Sluggo? Does anyone toss swim jigs for smallmouth in creeks and rivers? Ive taken to liking them in place of my spinnerbaits in east Kansas, city and county lakes, and was wondering if they may work, depending on color, clarity and forage. There's streams I fish without shad, but loaded with gills and longear, perhaps a gill colored one there or in larger rivers with shad or skipjack, a white, silvery colored one. If I'm overthinking this, say so, but please, continue to contribute to my madness.
  4. Those look like Giant Dog X baits Scott. Aren't they 1/2oz, 4" or so baits? I may try a couple larger baits this year.
  5. Thanks guys! I see that you work a Fluke with a wtd type of action. That makes sense to me, but there again, that rhythm eludes this white boy. Guess I gotta practice. I did find a Super Spook Jr this morning in the grass as one of the local lakes with the hooks rusted away and covered in mud and grime. After a clean up, what size hooks and split rings do you recommend for this bait?
  6. Firstly, I'm wanting to do more than toss jigs in creeks this year, so, I'm wondering a few things. What size and color buzzbaits do you prefer? How do you all fish Flukes from a canoe or wading? What is the concensus on the Dog-X Quick Walker?
  7. That looks like a killer day!
  8. That is a darn pig! Well done!
  9. I'd figure some 1/8oz heads and 3-4" grubs...problem solved.
  10. Looks like fun, hope to join you soon Brian.
  11. Simply gorgeous!
  12. 21" LMB from a small private pond I had permission to fish in high school.
  13. After watching today's new episode, I wonder how any company can market a petulant, whiny loudmouth. He was throwing rods, stomping around, dropping F Bombs and couldn't land fish. Is snagging legal in MLF?
  14. Wally, why, if their lifespan in so short, are we able to pull 16"+ spots from rivers and creeks in the SWMO region on just about any given day? Here's a 17" fish from small water for you.
  15. Ahhh, okay. That helps. Thanks!
  16. You planning a fish fry?
  17. Just curious, where did you live on the Marais Des Cygnes? I'm in Baldwin, about 15 miles from Ottawa.
  18. Walcrabass, are you an MDC plant here? It is foolish to think that spots can't grow to 12" in Truman. The thought that average fishermen will keep spots if they could is assuming they are educated. My neighbor is your average Kansas angler and he doesn't know what a spotted bass is, hell, he only has cursory knowledge of smallmouth. If you think these anglers and bait dunkers can differentiate between a spot and largemouth, you're giving them FAR more credit than I, and others, will or should.
  19. I didn't view the hooks in these Ozark Finesse Heads as HD to be honest. Any of 3 ML spinning rods I own set them easily. A good L rod would likely be great too!
  20. Norm, how do you fish those Erie Darters? I'm considering a purchase and was just wondering.
  21. That makes sense. Thanks Dave.
  22. Color me confused Charlie...
  23. Pete, I went Powell Inferno 7' ML. it should be here Wednesday from TW. Gonna use PP 15/4 with leader on it.
  24. Well done and that reel looks a bit familiar... That's a great day!
