Depending on where you caught it could be river redhorse or shorthead if in fact a redhorse, mouth pics would help.

Usually the problem with crappie in small ponds is that they overpopulate and don't get very big, keeping some is a must in most small ponds.

Can't speak to the shinne hinee hooks, but loosen that drag up and let them run, nothing to break you off in the open water so just let them run and wear themselves out.

I have only encountered it a few times, but each time I throw a white deceiver (fly fishing) into the fray and get bit immediately. A pearl swimming minnow thrown in also resulted in an immediate hookup. This is in the spring during the spawning run so it could be different, but I just let it sink slowly and get bit.

If you stop all harvest you just upset the locals and they will go on a crusade to keep everything they catch. It takes so long for a smallmouth to get big, most will die of natural causes before they reach 18". There is a lot more to fish biology than just releasing everything and expecting big numbers of big fish. -

Trap placement is essential. If the skunk is getting under the deck place it next to or under the deck. Make it to where they have to enter the trap to get the food, don't give them access to the back or sides of the trap if possible. Use objects to funnel them into the entrance. They don't want to enter the trap, but will if it is the only way they get to find out what that good smell is.

Went to Canada one year on a fly in and were trolling for walleye. White wiggle warts were the ticket and finally had lost all but one. Hooked a nice walleye and broke it off. I was bummed about losing the last white wart, but luckily caught the same fish the next day and got it back.

I'm with Batcab on the clock, why in the world do they do it that way? Seems like some bribery could occur to let the game continue a few more minutes. Other than the clock thing and people being taken off on a stretcher for a kicked shin, the game is what it is. I enjoyed playing it but don't enjoy watching it. Don't have a problem with anyone who likes it, to each his own, it is undoubtably a great event for the world, hate that we choked the last one away, I'm sure it was exciting to watch at the end.

I'm with you, but in typical Royal fashion they build you up for a few games and then lose 3 games where the pitchers only give up 2 runs, a free agent pitcher would be stupid to come to KC where they can expect little to no run support most of the time. I still have hope for the season, but my enthusiasm wanes with every pitiful offensive performance.
