  1. Al, on one of my trips to the Menominee, as I was backing my boat in the water I could see crayfish scattering everywhere. We picked a few up and noticed they were all a variety of colors. Some were blue, some were red, some looked like the pic I posted. It got me wondering because we were there the first week in June, which was pre spawn. I wonder if I was seeing the different stages of "coming out" or something.
  2. The best thing to do is install an app called Tapatalk. You can log in to the forum with it and post pics directly from your phone. Please hurry, we want to see the fish!
  3. Don't worry about being late! Andy had a great time and thanks again for the boat ride! Agreed, I'm especially interested in the color patterns for different seasons, molting, etc.
  4. Even as a small business owner I know that much of my business depends on the government. My biggest customers are tier 1 Boeing suppliers, so to say I'm not depending on the government is false. However, the reason we are getting most of the work now is because they know that its cheaper in the long run to hire contractors than have their in-house union personnel do the same work. When I walk into a factory I'm always stepping over work sitting on pallets that is waiting to be finished. This bottle neck is the reason they use outside contractors.
  5. Good call on the leather coach, dogs can ruin a non leather couch way too quickly...not to mention the hair is so hard to clean up
  6. I'm with Wrench, start with picking what species you want to go after first, then maybe buy a couple of Bass Pro videos or books, and study. Of course on the job training works the best and is much more fun! If you don't have a boat, go to a place where you can rent one and try things out. At first you will be fumbling around with your gear like an amateur, then it will finally all come together and you will make the most of your time on the water. And most importantly, you really don't need to buy the most expensive gear to be a good fisherman! Be patient..... await your own arrival, you're not in a race.
  7. I think the color is called Blue Gill
  8. Beautiful fish Andy! well done!
  9. Taken 1 mile from the confluence of the Mississippi......and the strange part is that the picture was taken with an iPhone 5! I'm trying to catch the craws to study their colors
  10. Well Jerry, I'm sure they do bad by clogging things up, but I tend to agree with you. Lake Erie and St. Clair are still fantastic fisheries. The zebra mussels sure cleaned the water up in the Detroit river as well.
  11. The scary thing to me if its really true is the fish weighing so much less than in the 70's
  12. Ness, totally agree. I got talked into it by my nephew and it's horrible. Washed our looking low contrast interface. Apparently there is a new 7.02 out today, it can't be any worse!?!?! I hope!
  13. True enough, they're a bunch of morons. But it's not that big a deal to me, I haven't skipped a beat and will go on like nothing happened. So what if the nanny state shuts down for a few days?
  14. Thanks Larry! If found guilty, how about a 5K fine and make him watch this video over and over for 48 hours straight! http://youtu.be/u9YOVuEQugE
  15. That goes for conventional fishermen as well
  16. Looking good! Glad they taught the kid to release it!!
  17. Sounds like the Hawaiian sling boy plead not guilty at his day in court.
  18. Up in Canada, I would eat the Northerns and walleyes that were fried together......other than the size, you couldn't tell the difference in the taste. Both excellent!
  19. While you're at it let's drop "No No" for pitching a no hitter, poly sci, for political science, and bow for rainbow trout. It's not that big of a hardship to pronounce the full name.
  20. Nice fish Andy!!
  21. Nice fish
  22. For what it's worth Al, I caught one at the confluence of the river and the springs last year
