  1. Looks like a smallmouth goggle eye cross
  2. Very interesting, I've never even heard of a red eye bass.
  3. I'm picturing red rocks and lack of vegetation, but I guess I was totally wrong. Please add some pictures on your subsequent posts! sounds like fun.
  4. Chug bugs are it! Kind of like the top dollar. But the little chug bugs suck IMO because they don't have the action
  5. I'll be there in 10 minutes! I'll bring the wine.......cuz you already have the bourbon covered!
  6. Jigging spoons are one of the best bass catchers around! Great report!
  7. I hope, as long as I can still fish!!!! Anyway back on my feet again and will be sending you and Wrench your jigs next week!
  8. Both my parents lived till about 90, both Scotch Irish too! Neither one ever had skin cancer and my mom was a red head. As Scotch Irish if we ever develop skin cancer, we can always drink and sing about it!
  9. Keep on fishing it! They are unique in the sense that they are poppers that walk. poppers that walk have little forward motion and stay in one place and annoy a fish. Especially within weeks of the spawn. It's no surprise you were able to get that big post spawn female. The popper walkers become less effective the closer you get to the fall. Then the Sammy types and buzzbaits will take over.
  10. So if you use a #1 or #2 hook size, how much of the hook will be exposed? Half the bend? It seems like that would loose fish IMO but you guys know this rig well and I don't. I'm sure the sharpness and quality of the hook helps. I guess the lightness of the action of the rod will help too. Also, would a 1/0 hook get you less bites at the end of the day?
  11. What fun! did you get spooled?
  12. Yea, those crappy little tiny backwards barbed hooks replaced immediately! They WILL straighten out on a big fish
  13. We had a smaller ditch on my parents farm called the 8 mile ditch, not quite as big, but enough to occupy my brother and I for endless hours in the summers in Paragould. Lot of Cottonmouths back then!
  14. Glad to see the Gasconade is producing.....nice fish!!
  15. I need some modifications done on my boat. My boat is a beater and I don't take care of it well. Pretty soon no one will go fishing with me!! Anyway, I can't think of anything, what did you have in mind?
  16. 17" K's is always a good day!!
  17. More than a few dropped posts, it was showing no new content for 2 days on my end
  18. LOL
  19. I'm noticing no one is posting much anymore, doesn't seem right!
  20. I always brag about how much hot sauce I consume!
  21. I didn't see any beds yesterday on the Meramec, but the local park lake has several, the males and females are on a few feet apart and both are visible.
  22. Bought this reel and have used it only twice. Minor cosmetic scratches. Lists new for $169 http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Ardent_F-700_Denny_Brauer_Flipping_Reel/descpage-ACF7.html will sell for $70 and you pay shipping
  23. Don't feel bad, I fished my favorite stretch of the Meramec today and darn near got skunked!
  24. I just had my first Basal Cell Carcinoma (skin cancer) removed from my ear. Luckily it wasn't too deep and the roots didn't have a good hold. I guess the years of fishing and not caring too much about sunblock caught up to me. Wear your 80 spf sun protection and replace it every 2 hours is what I was told. They also mentioned new fabrics that block the ultra violet rays. Just be careful guys!
