  1. This is a good hire IMO. Martin is a great recruiter, but the jury is out on his coaching IMO. Not sure he was in good situations at either Cal or TN (ran him off). It is very interesting reading the Porter rumors that came out yesterday. It appears this has been in the works for awhile with Anderson and Romar on the hot seat. I was aware Romar was the godfather to the Porter kids, but did not know that Martin and Porter Sr were in each others wedding. I don't see how those kids don't end up at Mizzou now. If Sterk manages to pull this off it would be pretty incredible IMO. He certainly did his research and knows how to make a splash. We will see if Martin can keep the ball rolling, but for a day at least the program appears headed for a 180.
  2. I was curious about the numbers of fish. Pretty low last fall...with normal weekend crowds it was kinda dissapointing. I wonder what the stocking rate is this year...seems to be little information on it
  3. Congrats on the company guys. Very cool! Hopefully you can all quit your day jobs. Will order some jigs and craws soon. My favorite baits to fish...
  4. The Gander MT in STL always seemed empty.
  5. I think it will. Regulatory tape will delay it, but they will get done one way or the other. I'd be nervous about a new deal for less if I was a Cabela's investor as it appears overvalued according to a couple articles I have read. Kinda sucks as I really like the Cabela's store in town.
  6. Recently purchased a new pair of Sierran waders from Frogg Toggs after my Cabela's pair of 7 years finally sprung a leak (which is now fixed). The Sierran's leaked right out of the box...which kinda sucks when it is 35 outside. It was kinda like a firehose and It was like swimming naked in winter. Sent them back (they charged me for shipping) and then sent me out a new pair in the wrong size. I called Frogg Toggs complaining and they told me to keep the pair that was the wrong size and they sent me the correct size. I figure the large will work with winter clothes and the mediums will work in the summer. My Cabela's brand still work like new after a lot of aqua seal on the booties saved my last trip. I really hope the new ones don't leak tomorrow as I really like them, but my old Cabela's brand are going to be hard to beat.
  7. It seems to me the MDC tries to appease everybody. In doing so it amounts to little meaningful change...and that i think is what many find frustrating. Unless the culture changes I doubt will ever see drastic changes even if the science supported it. I rather like the MDC, but it is completely fair to question their methods. We pay for it. This study feels more like it was an afterthought an operated on shoe string budget. It would have been better to wait and conduct a more intensive study when the budget allowed that could have answered more questions instead of creating them. Quite frankly the type of study really needed is probably outside the scope of the MDC and I am sure outside the budget. That is an important distinction IMO.
  8. Fished last Friday and Saturday. It is tough going right know. Saw one fish at Tan Vat...like one. Low and clear and the fish are in hiding. A brand new pair waders leaked like a sieve after about half hour of fishing. I had my older ones that I was able to fix with some aqua seal thankfully. All in all tough trip, but had fun.
  9. OTF, Good luck to you in Indiana and on your relocation. The Ozarks are not that far away. We will need some reports from your new stomping grounds.

If Mizzou doesn't turn it over 5 times they beat GA by several touchdowns. The improvement of this team from last year is dramatic. It might not all show on the scoreboard, this year, but there is a lot to like so far. Consistency is going to be an issue against really good teams.

Deleware St. was paid $525,000 to play the game which is probably essential to survive these days. This particular game was scheduled when Mizzou left the Big 12 and needed to fill a spot that opened up.

I knew someone would complain about this. Lol. The quarters were shortened to 10 min in the second half as agreed to by both teams. Played no starters and threw 1 maybe 2 passes in the second half. Not much else you can besides take a knee for two quarters which would be worse. Kids that never see the field are gonna play hard no matter the score.
  13. Excellant. Looks like a great time! Wish I had better numbers on the fly, but still figuring it out a bit.
  14. Wow was TN lucky last night. A fumble by TN that ended up bouncing into the end zone and recovered by TN to win it. That was hell of a hit on Dobbs too. Butch Jones had to be watching his career slip away right in front of him. App St is a pretty good team, but that should not have been close. The TN OL was manhandled all game. That will need to turn around quick. Vandy and SC looked pretty bad. Kinda like watching Mizzou last year. Yep, Mason is pretty bad coach, which is a shame because he can build a defense. My early thoughts are the East is going to be wide open.
  15. Meramac Springs is a place I avoid in the summer...it is kinda a pain the way it is set up and it gets cleaned out. Winter can be fun, but a lot of better options in that area this time of year IMO. Google eye, smallmouth, trout all kinds of fish in there
  16. Nice!
  17. Thanks man! It was a dandy. Great fight.
  18. Missouri was a mediocre offense from being a good team last year. We were in every game, even though it didn't feel like it with our offense. I am not sure what to expect, but it would almost be statistically impossible for our offense to be that terrible again. Missouri will not win playing freshman and sophmores...even the bluebloods only do this occasionally. If we have any kind of offensive line, we will be fine, but that is the big question mark. Alex Ross will be huge on special teams. Our defense should be great again. Gary Danielson, who historically has been a big Missouri critic, has us as his dark horse in the East. I am optimistic that we will all be pleasantly surprised. The lack of info, and closed practices is driving me nuts. There are whispers that Lock has impressed and i have actually heard the OL is doing fine, but depth is big issue. September 3rd can't come soon enough!
  19. Those are great pictures.
  20. Yeah, I couldn't imagine the weekends...not to bad today but definately traffic. I watch about 6 consecutive floaters run a ground on the same tree in the middle of the river. It was easily spotted about 50 yards away and not much current. Reminded of that scene from Austin Powers when he is yelling for the steam roller to stop 50 yards away. Anyway pretty stream...need more time to fish!!
  21. It is not a party until you all lock yourselves in a room, finish all whiskey and no one leaves until a new smallmouth management plan is drafted. If no one makes it out alive I get get all your stuff!!
  22. That was an entertaining read. Think everyone is right. The fish is freakishly fat, but still a fish of a lifetime. I didn't think anyone was diminishing it. It is almost as fat as it is long. I usually see that in rafts not from fish. Lol. I find the girth of this fish fascinating in a way and I would love to know what it was eating. I totally thought it was a woman who caught it. Sorry Lyal.
  23. Yep, the OL will make or break. I can't imagine it could be worse but we will have to see. Tough schedule too.
  24. Made it down to Huzzah conservation area today. I arrived later than I hoped and left earlier than I hoped. Fished downstream from the bridge. Only caught 3 smallies, but did catch my personal best on a jig. Went just shy of 18. Pretty water. I had planned to fish upstream in the afternoon, but lightening and rain got in the way. Looked like great habitat. Headed back toward home and fished Kingston after the rain cleared. That was brutal...one little largemouth. All in all a good day, but needed more time to get dialed in. Threw jigs, swimming flukes, grubs, and a spook. Been about 8 years since I WTD so i was moderately impressed with myself. Lol. Gonna need a shorter creek rod to WTD. My 7 footer... way to big.
  25. Probably the right choice!
