techo Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I thought about dropping an email to Bill, but I guess I will just post it here. I lurked on this board for a long while before I ever posted and have been here a short bit now. Respect and common courtesy is what I really enjoy about this forum. It has been that way....until recently. Even during the past Presidential election, the moderators insisted we address Obama as Senator Obama. They would not allow the names floating around such as Nobama. They insisted on respect. Yet it seems we respect each other less. Lately there seems to be a lack of respect. The guides have been beat to death. We always have the same old debates about catch and release versus eating and sight fishing beds, but it has been crazy lately. We have always had the debates with respect and reasons stated, which support your opinion. Nothing really demeaning that anyone took as a personal attack. Some of the folks on the lake seem to have forgotten things like respect and common courtesy. It feels like it is bleeding over into here. Maybe this is just fun to you folks.....if I was a moderator I would be deleting poasts and warning, then suspending folks. If you say something about someone... you should have the evidence to back it up. A friend once said to me I smelled like poop. Sure enough he had the evidence to back it up as I had just stepped in dog poop. Usually people fall to name calling when they don't have the facts or support needed to back up their point of view. I appreciate any knowledge shared by anyone....guides or regular dry land folks like Whacked, RPS. SWMO, Tom Spence, Predator1 and the whole group who love fishing. Tim Carpenter

Well put Tim If while making my point I have offended anyone I apologize. I am a bit sarcastic at times (yea, I know your all shocked) and if my sarcasm is taken as an insult, again I apologize. We guides have taken a beating from some of the folks here, if ya notice a few have stopped posting because of it. And it has been a topic of conversation between us. One last note, if you have a problem with something I post (comment, report, etc..). PM me don't complain to Bill. Bird Watcher Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I agree Techo. I don't even fish Table Rock. I don't have a personal stake in anything related to fishing on that lake. I do frequent a lot of other internet forums, mostly for waterfowl hunting. There are plenty of places out there on the net where you can troll with inflamatory posts and then passively poke fun at people when they get riled up and reply. This is a good forum, a lot of people share a lot of good information without all of the BS clouding the waters. These guides do provide a lot of information that they don't have to. I know on the waterfowl sites, it would be a cold day in East St. Louis before someone would offer up the detailed report that they provide. Like I said, if the people that provide information on this site were to shut up becuase of some moron who has nothing else to do except troll for arguments, that would be sad for the guys who do use the information. I don't really even believe Cold water fisher is the legendary Paul Dallas. He is probably a no name wanting to ride the coat tails of a true legends legacy. If he really was Paul Dallas, he wouldn't have offered his name up so quickly. Besides that, this is preschool stuff compared to true internet troll. this was a good discussion before the knukleheads became involved. ban the knuckleheads and it is still a good discussion. Bill Babler Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 I think this Thread has probably gone about as far as it can, probably to far. My participation as the Moderator is a very sketchy one in the fact that everyone is more than intitled to their opinion here, and as long as no vulgarity is used, I have my hands tied. I have the button to delete, but I will PM you and ask you to do it before either Phil or I take action. There has been no sense in me stating or arguing my position here, as you all already know what it is. I am a little to busy to debate this, and frankly in the 30 plus years here, guiding and fishing, I have only had a problem with other fishermen a couple of times. Most have been very recient, and for the life of me, I don't know why this is starting now. Phone calls from derby fishermen wanting information, has been going on since the 70's, it just get boring at times. Lets shut this down here. If our regulars leave it, and I hope they will, this is a done deal. Thanks Bill http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 11, 2009 Root Admin Posted August 11, 2009 I'm going to give it 24 hours and then I'll close it. I don't like closing topics - I'll do it only under extreme situations. This is not one... but I'll do it for Bill since he's requested it.

And it has been a topic of conversation between us. I have been suspecting this was coming. Thanks to all of you.....(one might say jerks)....who work really hard to piss off guides who provide an invaluable service to this forum. Some of us like their information so we can take our kid's fishing. And back to the ORIGINAL TOPIC of tournament information seekers your the jerks I speak of mostly .

CaptainJoe Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Well said, Techno..... Bill and Phil......thanks for everything you do on this forum. Ness and ColdWaterFshr....we also fish for fun and most of us became guides so we could share that fun with others, especially kids! Most non-guides do not get to work with kids, the developmentally challenged, or veterans like we do. Do you? We respect what you and what our clients do for a living. We show this respect to our clients during our day-on-the-lake. Please respect what we do, as well. This is a fishing forum.....this is where we hang out. We do not go to a forum that caters to your profession and bash you and your job. Phil, I'm done, pull the plug. Fishing Buddy Don House Posted August 11, 2009 Fishing Buddy Posted August 11, 2009 I suppose your point is that all of us non-guides wish we were in your shoes? I've got some news for you -- I fish for fun, and I enjoy what I do for a living (and it's not fishing). If you're living your dream, that's wonderful. But don't make the arrogant assumption that all the rest of us are jealous. Ness, this is for you... no arrogant assumption, just stating a fact, here is the best part.... ozark trout fisher Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Not to drill you....but Define: "fishing it hard" I'll say it again. No matter where you find fish....and end up strokin'em....chances are a guide once did well there, and probably considers it "one of HIS holes". So no matter where you catch fish SOMEBODY is gonna call you a basturd. What I mean by this is I won't stay in that spot all day, and dredge up every fish around. I may stop, take a few casts, and hopefully catch a few fish before I move on. There is a big difference between the two. What I wouldn't ever do, is follow around a guide that I didn't pay. I tend to agree this topic has run its course, and is descending into a pissing match.
