fishinwrench Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Looks just like the aftermath of a certain tournament held out of Gravois Public access on L.O. three days ago. I pulled in there Sunday morning, took a look around the ramp and my blood pressure hit the roof.
Gavin Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Gotta be more to the story..Those bass dont look all that big and kind of skinny...for all I know they might be taking a few fish out of a small lake or pond. If so, I couldnt care less.
Chief Grey Bear Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 More questions for sure. I counted 44 fish. As near as I could tell. I can see at least 3 maybe 4 stringers. I can also see at least 3 sets of feet, not counting who took the picture. The biggest question is where did these fish come from. We all certainly assume it was from public water. But was it? Did these come from a pivate pay lake? Was there a pond that was going to be drained for development? I am certainly not defending this but maybe you should make contact with the ol' "Hey bud, how ya been..." yada, yada, yada. And then mention that you saw the pic and thought it was an awesome day fishing like he said. Then he will drop the scoop to you and if it is not legit, you never have don't have to respond back to him. If you do this, I hope you post your findings here. You have peaked our intrest. RSBreth Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 That's the great thing about "Social Media" - people often don't know they've crossed a line (legal or not) until they post about it. Then the fun begins...
denjac Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Another scenario : The picture post date was dec. 09. The feet you see in the picture all have on heavy winter boots. The fish all have good color. Gigged fish? Or hand grabbed out of cold water. I have seen 10-12 bass on a frozen river right under a beaver hole at night while coon hunting. They are very slugish and would be very easy to grap or net. If they had been caught in warm weather and put on a stinger they would all be white looking. Or maybe 9 or 10 guys had a good day fishing and its legit but I doupt it. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Champ188 Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Fairly sure I see some spots in there. That would eliminate the possibility of them coming from a pond.
dwiebenga Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Very distrubing! I am strickly C&R on Bass, but even for those that are not .....this is bad!!! I would contact the DNR if it were me.
97procraft Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I am not a big fan of keeping bass, but it is legal to do so. And Denjac be careful when jumping to conclusions about a picture posted on the internet, social website or not. Why don’t you call the person up and ask him about the picture before posting it on here and bad mouthing him. You may regret something that you said. When I look at the picture I don’t see any that clearly look shorter than 12”. And if you check out the Arkansas fish and game website it states that there is no state wide length limit on largemouth or spotted bass, and the daily limit is 10.
Tfsh4bass Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Fairly sure I see some spots in there. That would eliminate the possibility of them coming from a pond. Most of the time I would agree (and in this case I am pretty sure these are river fish) but my buddy has a small lake that is spring fed that has largemouth, smallmouth, spots and even rainbow trout in it
Tfsh4bass Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 And if you check out the Arkansas fish and game website it states that there is no state wide length limit on largemouth or spotted bass, and the daily limit is 10. All that means is that it is lake/river specific on their rules and if a certain body of water doesn't have any regulations it defaults to no length and 10 fish. It all depends on where they were caught...
