ColdWaterFshr Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 We don't have all the facts, but just reading from the article, it does seem a bit heavy handed. Why not just get warrants and raid the place during one of the festivals and bust the offenders. Property seizure and draining the guys bank accounts seems a bit much.
ness Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Seems like they'd want to nab the actual drug dealers, not the guy providing the venue. No more concerts; drugs still flowing. Also seems like there ought to be more to it, but the actual complaint only states the owners allowed the drug sales to occur. Maybe there's more info to come. If you'd like to donate, there's this available to you. John
flytyer57 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 This seems heavy handed and unfair to me. How can you find a lawyer of your choice if they take your money. Seems to me they would have bigger fish to fry than a Grateful Dead cover band. They did. His name is Tommy Chong. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Members ladykiller Posted November 15, 2010 Members Posted November 15, 2010 Its common knowledge, or at least should be, that if you are allowing drug activity to go down on your property, you may have your assests seized by the federal government. Car, house, land, bank accounts, etc..anything that can be considered ill gotten gains from the illegal activity. This is a civil action and does not require a criminal case. Like it or not, right or wrong, drugs are still illegal, and allowing it on your property is not a good idea.
fishinwrench Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 First of all, I'm not a dude, I'm a man. I don't support that kind of justice, however I think they must have had quite a bit of complaints and where there's smoke there's fire. Sorry to disrespect you, Honorable Mitch f. Please forgive me for talking to you as I would a friend, I'll never make that mistake again. You are so right, I'm sure. Who needs due process right ? No evidence + no charges = that's ok seize it anyway ? Was anyone even busted for sales or possession at Camp Zoe ? And so what if they were. The next alleged illegal act (smoke seen) that goes down in a McDonalds or Wal-Mart parking lot I hope results in a seizure of all their assets. Good Score for your home team !
fishinwrench Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 A friend of mine had a daughter who would attend these type of events, he said it was nothing but drugs. Wooops ! you just incriminated your friend, Mitch. Don't you hate that... See the smoke ? That is how it works, Sir
stlfisher Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 It sounds to me that there was rampant drug use and drug dealing. Seems like the landowners were enabling the behavior and didn't leave the feds much choice.

Good Score for your home team ! darn right, and if you support the seizure of the Zoe property, then you would also have to support the seizure of EVERY other venue that holds concerts. People smoke joints at concerts, and they gotta buy them somewhere, too. So unless you want to be relegated to Justin Beaver or whatever the little douchebag's name is, you better lighten up and as the Beatles said (who also played with some drugs, thankfully), let it be.

When a kid sneaks a shot of Crown Royal from his ol'mans liquor cabinet...should the house be seized and the ol'man jailed ? Be a lot of homeless mo-fo's out there.
