Quillback Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I'd guess they haul them back to the lake in a tanker truck, where to? I'd like to know that also. There's probably going to be some mortality, but even if it's 10%, you're talking 50-75 fish total, and I doubt it will be that high. I'd say on a typical early summer weekend with fun fishing and local tourneys (not to mention the folks that bring some home some to fry) going on you'll end up with more dead fish than this event will cause.
Football Head Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I'm sure BASS has done extensive research on the risks of moving the fish that far and wouldn't take any chances if they felt the fish would be harmed in any way. At least I hope so. I'm sure everything will go smoothly and it will not be an issue. Cant wait for it to get here this will be the first Classic I've had the opportunity to attend, and I'm excited to get to go with my dad.
bluebasser86 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 What's everyone think it's going to take to win the thing? I've never fished Grand or even seen the lake for that matter. It looks like there could be a good warming trend the couple of weeks prior to the tournament so maybe the big fish will be moving towards the banks feeding up for the spawn?
Quillback Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 It's a 3 day event right? Based on that I'd say it will take 65 lbs. total to win. I'm thinking a daily bag in the low 20's is very possible on that lake. This is assuming decent weather.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 60 to 70 to win if weather permits if not mioght be the lowest weigh in in classic history. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

KVD won the last BASS elite event on Grand with 78# over four days. I don't think the LM population was as good then as it is now.

Ron Burgundy Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 What are the dates for the Classic? Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Quillback Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Starts Friday the 22nd and runs through the 24th.
Bill Babler Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Fished Grand today and did poorly. We were after Whites and Hybreds however. Had one 4 pounder on a jerkbait. Fished the Elk. The bite is on the dam end however, but we were after meat. Folks in Grove are not really happy about the hauling off of the fish. That is a monster ride for them. I believe and correct me if I'm wrong but I think that may be the longest haul in any tournament history. Have heard talk today that the qualifiers were pretty pissed off about fishing all day and then driving an hour and a half for the weigh in. Rush Hour traffic also. Then, same distance back and then getting fuel, tieing baits, finding food and getting ready for the next day. This is a real stretch. Lots of these guys are staying in Tulsa and then making the early morning drive, just so they are not so pushed in the evening. I believe Grove would have done a great job with all this, but money talks, reguardless. Also you have to remember that lots of these Sow's are full of eggs and you just wonder what this is going to do with their ability to spawn or even perhaps just sluff or obsorb their eggs. Of course with only 50 boats that is but a drop in the bucket for Grand and its fantastic bass population. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
