eric1978 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 The only case this story makes is...yes indeed some people are stupid. And yes indeed they'd be less dangerous without a gun...
Flyflinger Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Only difference is we need cars and airplanes, the rest is just toughguy stuff. So it's a "needs" thing...are you the one to decide whether or not I need something? If so what do I "need"...do I need a house as big as the one I am in? Do I need a car that goes 100 mph? Do I need to catch and release? There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit
fishinwrench Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Nope, people NEED to stop living in fear of $#!t that isn't a realistic threat.
patfish Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Nope, people NEED to stop living in fear of $#!t that isn't a realistic threat. Ding! Ding! Ding! Winner winner chicken dinner!!!!
jjtroutbum Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Only difference is we need cars and airplanes, the rest is just toughguy stuff. Well thos needs are not god given rights codified in the very infancy of our free country. Many good Americans have fought and died for these rights that so many seem ready to just give away for a sence of safety. They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin Jon Joy ___________ "A jerk at one end of the line is enough." unknown author The Second Amendment was written for hunting tyrants not ducks. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin, 1759
fishinwrench Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I for one don't question the right to carry (concealed or otherwise), what I question is the reason to. I have a "god given" right to fart in public too, but I refrain from doing it unless it is ultimately necessary. What is everyone gonna do when criminals start wearing kevlar, and who's to assume they won't be?
strangercreek Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 It seems like there are alot of folks that would in no way shape or form have the mentality to deal with a deadly situation. How can a 2 day class at Bass Pro prepare you for that when Soldiers and Cops spend a career maintaining those skills? Of course there are some folks that have capabilities to effectively carry a gun, and more power to them. Just because it is legal doesn't make it a "free for all". The CC holders I know scare the hell out of me. I can't even fathom them in a confrontation with guns, holy crap. I own five firearms by the way, but I believe in personal responsibility (I am able to properly handle the ones I own for their intended purposes). It seems like you would need to constantly train and practice with your firearm (often) to keep confidence in your skills, as well as training in situations that might involve deadly force. What about the average person who can barely navigate daily life or operate a vehicle? Now they are packing, really scary. How many more idiots are going to discharge a firearm accidentally in public? Guns are way to serious to allow mistakes like that, no excuses, no exceptions, no second chances. CC also seems like a buzz right now, everyone is doing it and talking about it (geeez)
Flyflinger Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 In the year 2007: Deaths by accidental discharge of firearm: 721 About 110 people die every day in a car accident in the US, that means somebody dies about every 13 minutes. There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit
Flyflinger Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Nope, people NEED to stop living in fear of $#!t that isn't a realistic threat. I agree...so please stop "living in fear" of getting shot by an "idiot" CCW person. You have a much better chance of being killed diving in your car. To cricket and the rest of the boys sharing the same opinion, Believe me when I say...I do respect your opinion. I in no way want you to think that I don't...and I would never force you or anyone else that is uncomfortable with the idea of caring concealed..to do so. So by all means don't...for whatever reason you think. I choose to carry for my reasons...and mine alone. That's really it. One thing is clear...no matter what you do...no matter how many laws you want passed or how much you wish for people to act in a responsible manner...they sometimes won't. There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit

But as the number of clumsy CCW permit grads increase I may soon fear them worse than I do an auto crash, especially since I only cover about 10,000 miles of road per year, yet am within range of 200,000+ of my fellow man in that same amount of time.
