Members megtrav2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Members Posted April 16, 2012 Hello, I am currently doing a project about "lake monsters" in the Ozarks. I was hoping to gather some information from Ozarks fisherman. So, have any of you heard any wild stories about fish in the local lakes? I'm sure there are some monster stories out there. I did hear about the episode of River Monsters in which they discussed man-eating catfish at the Lake of the Ozarks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Guest Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Dude, whatever... Man eating catfish in LOZ??? Not buying it.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 20, 2012 Root Admin Posted April 20, 2012 Oh you asked the wrong group that question...
duckydoty Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 We had an encounter with the "Naga's" and an "Ozark Howler" on the James River a couple of weeks ago on a midnight float under the full moon just a few miles below Galena. In those parts on certain nights when the moon is right, there's things that crawl, and things that fly, and things that creep around on the ground. In the distance, I could hear three grown men scream, and one old man laugh. It was a bone chilling, hair raising experience, but nothing compared to the "Giant Squid" run ins that some of us on here have experienced fishing late at night on Lake Taneycomo. Justin Spencer Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 The man eating North Fork RIver Whales should be migrating in around memorial day. Just because they make in your size doesn't mean you should wear it ladies! Gavin Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 The Slab Queens should be out in full force once the weather hits 80 degrees...Look for their fat tatooed bodies near low water bridges. They are often parked in a folding lawn chairs waist deep in water surrounded be empty steel reserve cans, ciggy butts, and children in dirty diapers.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I am waiting to learn more about the "Giant Squid" that has been refferenced multiple times. I have never been on the North Fork, but I have seen many river whales.... Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Greasy B Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Slab Queens, now that's scary. I don't know about monsters in the water but know for fact there's a colony of flying monkeys living up Dry Fork River. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

laker67 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 When fishing taney at night, in addition to the squid, you also have to be very afraid of the fruit monster. It is unwise to carry fresh fruit with you on a night trip to taney.
