jdmidwest Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Back in the summer, I had some damage on a blow up wading pool I had in the back yard covered in a blue tarp. I came home, the tarp was muddy and the top rung of the pool was punctured. No rain for a month, so I figured a dog would not be muddy. I thought about feral swine. Run by today to check on the bees, it was warm and sunny and they were flying good. I noticed the tiller was knocked over by the garden. I dismissed it as kids, but checked the game cam later. Come to find out it was a feral hog. Probably came from the same worthless neighbor that had the mule I shot year before last. People really need to contain their livestock. ness Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 That picture is so obviously faked. Look how fuzzy it is, and there's a dang wheel barrow in the back. John
Quillback Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 That picture is so obviously faked. Look how fuzzy it is, and there's a dang wheel barrow in the back. I agree, looks like a fat beagle wearing a pig mask.
Tim Smith Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Quick question, JD...what do you do if your neighbor's kids wander onto your property?
Mitch f Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Quick question, JD...what do you do if your neighbor's kids wander onto your property? Makes you wonder I guy I used to work with had a 12 year old son killed by a landowner who was riding his mini bike on the neighbors property, he had been told repeated times to stop, they stretched a cable between two trees and almost took the kids head off. Sad day, although the kid was in the wrong he didn't deserve that. There are some mean people in this world. Not referring to you JD "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 When I was a pup we had a network of trails and shortcuts that crossed through roughly 40 different peoples yards or property that led to various spots all over town. We rode bicycles, motorcycles, 3-wheelers, and noisy modified lawn tractors. Even had makeshift ramps built to jump fences and ditches. Not once did anyone EVER throw a fit about it. It wasn't uncommon however to get temporarily abducted to help carry in grocerys or lend a hand with tilling a garden if you we're passing through at the right time. I am SO glad that I grew up when and where I did. It must suck to be a kid now. Sad.
jdmidwest Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Free range went out of style a long time ago. 2 summers back, same person who owns less than an acre was trying to keep 2 mules on it with some cheap electric fence tape. First time out, I went and rapped on the door at 6:45 am when I found it in the yard. Next 2 times, the sheriff dept came answering complaints of property damage by the loose mule to others in the area. The last time, it was damaging my garden. I peppered it with a load of plastic pellets, non lethal, did not even break skin. But it worked. Never saw a mule again. And all of the neighbor kids were watching, they started hollering "he shot the mule", so they stay clear of my yard. Now, if this pig damages my bee hive, we will be having a pig roast. The wheelbarrow was my tiller that got knocked over by the pig. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Feathers and Fins Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Hey JD, http://mdc.mo.gov/landwater-care/invasive-species/invasive-animal-management/feral-hog-control-1 Pay close attention to paragraph 3 feral hogs in Missouri, hunters afield for other game should shoot feral hogs on sight. 1 ferral hog quickly turns into many hogs so shoot the dam thing before it has the chance to make more hogs and you wind up with the problems like TX, FL, LA and many other states. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
