A pond/lake full of honker gills, half drunk guys sloggin' in the mud in hip boots, and a half dozen angry beavers that don't want them there ... that's oscar winning material. All you need is someone good at editing/producing.

There is a guy who goes by "Uncle Steve" on Youtube. He does bluegill fishing, no driving, no music, no flyrod, no expensive lures, mostly just worms. I enjoy his videos and subscribed a while back. But it has been mentioned a couple of posts ago, these videos on here are lightyears ahead. I don't judge on whether or not certain content has been added/ommitted, I judge if I like it or not. So far, I have not been disapointed on here.

Uncle Steve is great. I think I've watched just about all his videos. Nothing flashy, nothing impressive, no huge fish. Just a humble guy that likes to fish and share his experiences. He even makes his own lures that somehow catch fish.

Thinking that JoeD needs to update his avatar...This might work.

Theres a lot of time spent editing footage, adding music, cutting frames, etc.

Hats off to those of you that actually put out videos of river fishing

I really like the ride over the bridge shot,

I've got a Waylon and Willie Nelson theme going for my noodling video.

or better yet make it a WWF wrestling theme & power bomb a couple budweisers

I've already got my first beaver shot this year!

Videos ? darn, I can just barely take a still pic. Speaking of which, I have this really nasty looking black spot on the nail of the big toe on my right foot. As the nail grows out, the black spot moves toward the tip of the toenail, but really slowly. Right now its about halfway there. If I can get a pic of it maybe I will post it as proof. That could be both proof that I have a black thing on/under my toenail, or at least proof that I can take an identifiable picture.

I think Jerry R mighta nailed it by noting that most of the rants seem to come at a certain time of non-daylight. I wonder if there could be two levels of posting privileges, unrestricted for those with a moderately clean track record, and a level of restricted privileges. I'll suggest one catagory of restriction as "no posting for three hours after the bars close".

We could use good ole majority rules for placing people on restriction.

This is just about the darn dumbest most contrarian BS I've seen on this forum.

I want to talk about fishing reports. You guys all think you're going to be a guest writer for F&S or what? If I see another ffishing report that follows this formula, I'm going to puke:

1. You woke up and some crazy chain of events let you go when you didn't think you'd be able to otherwise;

2. The weather was ______________;

3. The water temperature/conditions were______________;

4. You started fishing the __________, but switched to a ________ and really started catching them;

5. You had boat issues/got home without incident.

You know, we all like to fish. Most all of us like music. I can't speak for the rest of you, but there's something about a sunrise over a quiet road - knowing I'm headed out to do what I love when most folks are still in bed - that just puts me in the right mood. It should come as no surprise that a lot of us appreciate the same thing. Sure, the road on the way there and the sunrise are common elements in a lot of fishing videos. But hell, as far as I'm concerned they set the mood. I got news for you. There ain't much original in fishing. It's all been done. You may think you have the secret technique, secret location, secret whatever, but it has either been done or outdone many times before you. We simply enjoy what we do, and there are common elements to what each of us do no matter how original or different from the pack we think we are.

I love the fishing videos guys. The things JoeD gripes about, well I think they make these into a genre. Maybe hearing Mad Season or Panic on the way to the fishin hole doesn't do it for some of these guys, but it does for me. Saw a good one by LittleRed not long ago, and I don't know who all make the rest but I like yours too. Keep doing what you're doing. You are archiving, sharing, and it's art. I don't care how original or unoriginal it is, I love watching them and I love showing them off.

Nice Trophy. For a second I thought you had posted this. Does this make you happy JoeD?

Edit - heck, JoeD started a whole thread to heckle video makers and I can't even get one to embed. I'll try the link. I promise it's worthwhile if you like asian carp getting dispatched samurai-style.
