People complain when the government raises taxes to pay for programs.

People complain when the government cuts back programs that taxes pay for.

Can't have your cake and eat it too people.

How about getting our noses out of other countries business (i.e. wars) and take care of this one first?

I thought this was an interesting read. Disregard it if you don't like it, but I thought it fit this conversation.

Wal-Mart vs. The Government Morons

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest private employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans… Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature

It is now official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:

a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 237 years
to get it right and it is broke.

b.. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 77 years to get it
right and it is broke.

c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 74 years to get it right
and it is broke.

d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 48 years to get it right;
$1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the
poor" and they only want more.

e.. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 47 years
to get it right and they are broke.

f.. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 42 years to get it right
and it is broke.

g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence
on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion
a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 35 years to get it right
and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

When I see an article like this, I just have to scratch my head. What they cut is what will affect the general population the most and help them to increase their funding so we can get it back. They hold our services hostage until we give up some more. Meanwhile, millions leak out of our coffers into foreign countries in the form of "aid" without any control. They never attempt to cut back on any of that.

Its my hard earned tax dollar, I want to see it spent wisely at home first. If there is any left over, we can donate it to charities abroad. Obviously, with 16 trillion dollars in debt, we run out of surplus a long time ago.

I think the federal government is sucking the life blood out of the country. It needs to be dismantled from top to bottom.

But any "sportsman" or "outdoorsman" who wants the government role in conservation reduced is a fool. Without govt intervention over the last hundred or so years we would have lost resources by the bucketful.

I think state govt does a fairly good job all things considered. I despise the federal govt and it desperately needs reform. But without govt, conservation would be in bad bad shape.

The average income in DC is the highest in the United States. Both political parties have individuals whos relatives are lobbyists making several hundred thousand per year. This is a huge conflict of interest, no matter which side you're on. Great gig if you can get it!

I suspect nothing will change until the corporate masters start to badger Congress to put more money into the hands of those who spend it at their businesses. After all, the wealthy aren't the ones who are shopping at Walmart, eating at Olive Garden, or shopping at lower end department stores. Nor do they usually stop at the Mom/Pop bars and convenience stores. These are the businesses that take the hit when the middle and lower class lose 2-3% or more of their income. That's their discretionary spending which will no longer be spent. These idiots are gonna end up destroying themselves from the insides because they truly can't see the problem. If they haven't learned anything from what's happened in Spain, Ireland, and Britain in the last several years when they experimented with austerity, then they never will. It's the same old "I've got mine, so the hell with you" attitude. Disgusting.

I worked for the feds(Corps of Engineers) for 32.5 years. Their budget could be cut 20% easily. Some of it is due to Congress saying you have to spend the budget for the Fiscal Year or you don't get it back next year. That is b.s. We "protected" so many banklines with big rock that didn't need it, but if that money could have been carried over without penalty from congress........ And when Obama bucks came out, the Corps spent so much money on rehabbing Lake offices it was sickening to me. Anyone who looks at the Winfield, Clarksville, Hannibal locks and dams know that money could have been spent much smarter. I am done, carry on.
