abkeenan Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Not saying the Banjo was not a scam. I was down at TR and we were on a cold front and could not get the bass to bite. Over the next 3 days I used everyone of my white, smoke, and green banjo's. Caught a ton of fish. you never know. Banjo minnow even though "gimmicky" is just a nose rigged swim bait so its not like the other monstrosities or silly stuff like Laser Lures, Helicopter Lures and other nonsense.
Bill Babler Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Which one of those was the one that Roland Martin sold? I think it was the flying lure or maybe the helecopter. My brother-in-law kicked my A$$ one day on a banjo minnow, it is pretty much a soft jerk bait, so I'm reserving my vile comments on them. There were however some colors in the mix that were pretty much outragious. Seems like the whites, silvers and blacks would catch them. He rigged them like sluggo's. The Banjo was just before the sluggo, and I think it helped develop the soft jerkbait. The sluggo, pretty much put it out of business as you could buy any color you wanted and as many as you wanted with out all the junk that came in the B. minnow kit. Champ188 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Hey T, I think maybe if you put a couple of those copter lures on that A-rig bass-ackwards you could accomplish the counter-rotating deal.
dtrs5kprs Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Just reel clockwise while making counterclockwise circles with the rod tip, and letting off whip crack noises with your mouth. Should counter balance just fine and keeps the hornets away in the summer. Stupid springtime...any time now.
Members timr0123 Posted April 2, 2013 Members Posted April 2, 2013 All you guy's are all killing me. Can you imagine Bill picking up that day's client at the dock. He's wearing his favorite Babe Winkelman Polarized sunglasses, a Tennessee Volunteer ball cap, a freshly pressed Jimmy Houston Outdoor Center T-shirt and a pair of KVD Irish Setter flip flops. The guy gets in the boat and whips out two Bill Dance signature series Zebco 202's, opens up his Hank Parker Plano two tray tackle box, ties on his favorite Roland Martin autographed Helicopter lure on one and a A-Rig with three banjo minnows and two flying lures on the other. He looks over at Bill and say's "Let's go gettem Champ". ( I think I just wet myself )
jdmidwest Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Dances Eel was a killer bait for nice bass in the lily pads at Duck Creek. I bought it on clearance as a joke and tied it on for fun one day. I had some fun till I broke it off and could not find another. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

gotmuddy Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 whats really sad are the little kids who get these for gifts and are let down when they realize its a scam. Believe me, I was let down by the following: Dancin Eel, banjo minnows, flying lure I actually caught quite a few fish on flying lures. they were/are GREAT for getting up under laydowns and docks. remember the helicopter lure? That one got me as a kid. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
