mic Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Been in a canoe for 30 years, never tipped. Well today was the day. Wish I can say I was saving a baby in a class 3 rapid, but no... I went butt over tea kettle in 8 inches of water in pond. I think that was the problem, I was trying to turn around and I think the tip of the canoe hit the ground and became a pivot point. Must have been funny to watch because I went in with on my back and feet in the air.
Flysmallie Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 3o years and this is the first? You really haven't been trying have you? Â Â
Jerry Rapp Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 it is time for a flat bottom, and time for a water proof "life alert", I have fell and can't get up off the floor button. LOL!
405z06 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 3o years and this is the first? You really haven't been trying have you? No kidding. I went through a spell where I was gun-shy. I tipped 4-5 times in a couple months. Lost 2 Loomis rods. One time lost my only paddle and had to empty a plastic tackle container to move me down river to the end of my trip. I haven't flipped in a couple of years. But they always come unexpectantly.
TroutRinger Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I haven't flipped in a couple of years. But they always come unexpectantly. ^This "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
Mitch f Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Once you prioritize safety and caution above making the perfect cast in the perfect location.....game over, time for a jet boat "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
ozark trout fisher Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Oh well. It happens and you might as well get it out of your system somewhere where you have a good chance to recover gear.
mic Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Flipping in a pond? Surrender your man card;>)!. I know right. There were a couple of folks in a bass boat near by and asked if I was alright. I yelled out... just my pride hurt here.
