Micheal Kyle Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Thanks for the info I will have to check Mozingo out. Nothing any finer than catching a big bucket mouth on the fly rod!! I have a bunch of mice and frogs ready to rock and roll! To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
dtrs5kprs Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Thanks for the info I will have to check Mozingo out. Nothing any finer than catching a big bucket mouth on the fly rod!! I have a bunch of mice and frogs ready to rock and roll! If you want to throw flies at them, look at Belcher Branch. It is small, about 45 acres, just east of Faucett at the same exit off I-29. Decent access if you are fishing from the bank, TM only if you are in a boat. Those fish up at Mozingo can be a load on the big stuff, and lots of cover. Belcher is sort of the same lake, but in miniature. Also only about 15 minutes from St Joe. Mozingo is a bit farther.
9LB Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 i am just happy to own a boat and I will fish out of anything that floats.
Members kscullawl Posted May 6, 2013 Members Posted May 6, 2013 My problem with BPS is everything that has their name on it is something that had made as cheap as possible to make a buck on. As opposed to everything Cablea's puts their name on they make sure is quality first. BPS branded=made in china junk Cabelas branded=quality product I have no dog in the fight. Just going by 20+ years of buying from both places. I wouldn't begrudge people who buy at BPS. I think the "walmart of the sporting goods world" is an accurate description
OldMillRoad Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Micheal Kyle- You might check out Watkins Mill State Park as well. You can usually stick a few in that drink. But I agree, Mozingo is a good choice.
crazy4fishin Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 My boat is what I stand on while trying to catch fish....Older Bass Cat....blew the merc it came with replaced with an Evinrude...before that I had Steve Holley's gold Hydro Sport that flipped when the single steering broke. I stood on it and caught fish. A drunk ran into me off the point in front of Wooley Creek and smashed to heck. 5 minutes to midnight, trying to make weigh in at Cape Fair. I was only 25 yards off end of bluff or they would be dead. Managed to get boat to edge of bluff and grab a tree as the boat sank....Was in shock for a while...My boat is still what I stand on while trying to catch fish...I am thankful for that....Don't think brand had any influence....Only big change was that I'm hesitant to fish alone at night...Had a 7'11! bass I was going to take pic of in livewell....She lasted overnight and was released when the water patrol took me to the wreck the next day. The boat was sitting nose up in 16 ft of water. 17 ft HydroSport. Yanked it off bottom. got it on plane, all goes well till Cape Fair buoys and he slowed down, boat starts sinking . Untied tag end of rope and fed rope while water patrol got me near shore. Tied tag end to tree and called wrecker...Managed to get on trailer so insurance Co could take pic's. Center City Marine rebuilt motor and sold it. Fought w/Insurance Co's for a couple of months.Ran the 2nd HydroSport 5/6 years and bought Lee Jordon's Bass Cat. My boat is what I stand on while I try to catch fish....I Love to fish. I have bought products from Aaron Martens to Z-Tech....Heck I even have 3 US Reel Hibdon Reels cuz I grew up without line guides and worm gears....I own BPS stuff and Lews (original TN and MO) All is good....I support about everybody....After a 150 HP prop crashed into my side and missed my head by 3 foot, I'm happy to stand on any boat while trying to catch fish. Thanx to any and all promoting fishing,,,from Johnny all the way down to the guy pouring jigheads in his garage. If it works....I am your customer.... Holy firetruck! Memo to self do NOT team fish with Lollygagger........just glad you are still with us bud! C4F Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
abkeenan Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 This thread is STILL going? Why don't we have a Midwest Ralley at Phil's place in Taneycomo and have a dust up to settle this....jeesh. PS - Last man standing gets a brand new Ranger and BPS gift cards.
MOPanfisher Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 What BPS gift cards are worthless junk made in china!! Sometimes we all just get a little uptight. I like shopping at BP and cabelas, and Academy and many other places. Some store brands are good on some products some are not. Thats why you do your homework. I worked at BPS in springfield while in college, loved it there, didn't get rich by any means (dang employee discount nearly bankrupted me). Some employees have a great deal of knowledge, other mere appear to have. I was hired after an interview where the then manager of the hunting dept. and I got into a discussion of reloading, later transferred to the fishing and worked for Jack Emmett, truly enjoyed both deptartments.
wdberkley Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Wow, reading this was a helluva entertaining way to waste a slow Tuesday afternoon....
