Champ188 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I make it a practice to eat a can of corn for breakfast when I'm trout fishing. I hate when Donna rocks the dang boat and my corn spills into the water.
bfishn Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Here's a bit of trivia to add to the "I didn't really need to know that" file, trout can't digest whole kernel corn any better than we can. I can't dance like I used to.
abkeenan Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 When I am at Table Rock with the young kids and am going to be there for a few days I will chum carp off the front of our dock with corn for those couple of days. It brings in just about everything. Cats, Carp, Snakes, Turtles, Perch, Bluegill, you name it they will start coming around. Makes for good times when it is hot during the heat of the day and bass fishing is slow and boat traffic is high. Kids love seeing the size of the carp plus they a too much fun fighting. Quillback Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 One of the Bella Vista lake patrol folks would stop at the Windsor dam every afternoon and toss several scoops of "fish chow" into the water off one of the docks that are on the dam. The water would boil in a few minutes, cats and carp mainly. I'd think that a dock owner could buy some of that fish chow and toss some in the water every evening and it would not be long before you'd have a catfish honey hole. Probably would attract a few craws also.

Used to be several that did just that. I heard all about it one evening from one such gal... got quite an earful about them being "her" fish, and if I caught "Ol Whiskers" I'd better be ready to meet my maker and such. I can't dance like I used to.
Quillback Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Had a guy out in his lake side back yard yell at me for catching "his" bass. At first I thought he was kidding, but he was serious. He probably would have flipped out if I had dared to place a crawdad trap near his stretch of shoreline.
Champ188 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Had similar "these are my fish" encounters with lakeside property owners when I lived in Hot Springs Village. Made a point to fish those specific docks quite frequently thereafter.

He probably would have flipped out if I had dared to place a crawdad trap near his stretch of shoreline. Last Bass I intentionally threw in the live well was because of that.. Told the guy ( Thanks he is now MY dinner ) and then caught three more and in the live well they went. Granted got around the bend and let them go but the look on his face was priceless https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Feathers and Fins Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Oh and FYI 4th dock on the inside of Point 3.... enjoy boys https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

I spent the rest of the evening mentally rehearsing a GodFather scene, where the "fish owner" came out to the dock for brunch, only to find Old Whiskers head on a pike. Got enough satisfaction just thinking about it I didn't need to really do it. :-) I can't dance like I used to.
