Quillback Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Aaron Martens is leading after three days, but Tommy Biffle is only 7 OZ behind.
Quillback Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Some pre-tournament thievery. Another reminder to not leave gear in your boat. http://bassfan.com/docktalk.asp?id=10057#10057
Quillback Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Ol' Tommy Biffle pulls it off. Aaron Martens is 2nd (this is the 10th time he's finished second in an Elite or Classic). http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/2013-elite-series-mississippi-river-rumble/leaderboard
Gavin Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 He culled a fish...broke a rule...DQ'd....Out some $$$ for the weekend. Doesn't sound like anything dishonest...Move on.

Incredible bait that catches big bass,
Iclass Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Lodging, gas, food, etc for 250-300+ people in town for a week...That's just the participants, tour workers, media. Doesn't include visitors there to watch. Yeah millions would be a fair estimate
Feathers and Fins Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yes EG, It gets the lakes name out there and that is worth money then there is the all the festivities that circle the BIG tournament, anglers spend money in the local economy fans spend money, licenses, permits, a lot of money goes in to a pro-t. If I remember a few articles I have read the FLW for Beaver lake is 1.5 or so million. Now tack on Crappie Masters and all the local club tournaments through the year. I'm not going to try and figure the cost today but when I fished them it was typically 4 days 2 day prefish 2 day tourney, that's 4 days of gas, lodging, food, bait resupply averaged me about 700 for 4 days back in the 90's multiply that by from 50 to 200 guys depending on tourney and type then times how many tourneys a year. Local tourneys were much cheaper of course but still averaged about 200. Many people don't think about how much a tourney-fishing adds to the local economy. Im sure with a few of the regulars on here they could give a more up-to-date cost of tourney fishing for say an out of town needing lodging etc and local events. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jmes Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Here is my example what it cost me to fish the SOLO PRO on Grand lake in Oklahoma I have nevered fished the lake before so here is what it cost me approx. 2 days pre fishing , 1 day tournament Fishing license $ 38.00 Hotel $ 156.00 Food $ 132.00 Gas boat and truck $ 277.00 Total------------------ $ 603.00 Doing something that you love and enjoy PRICELESS This is just a quick estimate there is alot of little extra's we forget about
Tfsh4bass Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 The entire point of this is to cut stress and mortality. On Summer derbies I believe it should be 3 fish max. and a complete no cull rule. You have to be selective with the fish you put in the well. This is how all Trout tournaments are. You select the 3 fish you wish to measure for the day. You catch a bigger fish after you have measured and accepted one and its tough luck. Cuts way, way down on mortality. I believe the trout guys have it right. I was over at Grand Saturday just fun fishing and I came in to eat lunch and cool off around 2pm...saw a small club tournament doing their weigh-in in the parking lot while I was grabbing the truck to trailer the boat. After 40 minutes they drove down to the ramp to release their fish and they were all dead...they did launch a boat to pick them up but the damage was done. You can't talk in a parking lot while your fish bake in the livewells...some just people aren't very smart.
