Bill Babler Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Just kind of interested in how much you all are spending on each outing this Summer. There are a lot of locals that not only pull their boats but fish most everyday. Lots also that hit it every weekend. What is it running you all per outing, or do you just not want to know. Figure gas and oil for the boat and also gas for the truck to get to and from. Give us a shout if you dare and lets compare. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Bird Watcher Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 About 80-100 a Saturday. I'm kinda embarrassed to admit that, but I also know that with my economical rig compared to others, there's probably some that are spending twice or three times that.
Members Bimmer Posted August 1, 2013 Members Posted August 1, 2013 It is an interesting topic but it is one that is comparing apples to oranges unless you compare motor sizes. I have a little piddly 35hp outboard. There can be no comparison with those who are running 150hp inboard/outboards and up. Hate to split hairs with this but you really cannot ignore these differences when figuring costs. God is my Pilot! I'm just riding "shotgun".
dennis boatman Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I fish Stockton and the Niangua River, both about a 45 minute drive @ 15mpg...so Stockton $15.00 plus a few gallons in the boat...so $30 in fuel...Niangua $15 to $20...not that bad really...I only go once a week usually... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
merc1997 Bo Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 it is quite easy to spend 50 to 100 dollars a trip depending on where you put in, and that is not going very far from the launch site. if i still fished as many tournaments a week as i used to, and with a day of pre-fishing in the mix, my fuel bill a month would easily run $3,000. with that said, and they payouts not being very good in any of the weeklys or even the various trails around, it just does not pay to fish tournaments in this day and time. i always like to make a little money not just break even, if that is even possible. when one gets to go fishing anymore, you feel like you need to stay and fish a day and a half to justify they trip. for those that think guides are charging too much, i will disagree. it costs lots of money to own, operate, and maintain a boat. bo
denjac Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I get about 3 trips on 20 gallons on the boat, sometimes less. Typical run for me in out of the Indians to cow and back, or from Aunts creek to Baxter and back. So about $70 for boat gas not including oil. Thats with a 225 Yamaha HDPI . Mind you I am a 3000- 4000 RPM guy so I dont run hard. For the truck from Joplin and back is about $50. So around $120 for a weekend fishing. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. You start pushing those big blocks on the bigger boats and you pay for that amount of luxury. Really counting your travel the $120.00 does not seem bad at all. July cost for fuel for me and I guided 32 trips counting the truck fuel and oil was $2,065.92 I keep perfect records for tax purposes and that worked out just in fuel to $64.56 per trip. IT also took me just a shade under $600.00 for bait and tackle for July. That is hard out of pocket cost, of about 85 bucks per launch. That is the highest amount of overhead of any month I have guided in my entire career. That is why I was wondering abit on how much just the fun fishing was costing you all. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Champ188 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Bella Vista to say, H ramp at Baxter and back, is around $50 in the truck. Add another $50 in gas and oil, even though I, too, am a 3,000-4,000 RPM guy. I use the brown Mercury DFI oil on my mechanic's recommendation, which runs a minimum of $30 a gallon in new jugs (nowhere to buy it in bulk around here). So there went a Ben Franklin, plus whatever eats and treats me and Donna may consume along the way.
