Hunter91 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I use Joe Bald to launch a lot of times. I dont see where they are spending money on upkeep at the access. Guess I could be missing it.
Champ188 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Wayne, I'm talking about fishing in general losing participation. Many states across the country have reported declining license sales for both hunting and fishing over the last couple of decades. Obviously, license sales are a direct indicator for the sport in general.

Many states across the country have reported declining license sales for both hunting and fishing over the last couple of decades. Obviously, license sales are a direct indicator for the sport in general. I wasn't aware of that. I thought maybe the competitive side was down. Do they have any theories on the decline? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Flysmallie Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Do they have any theories on the decline? Have you seen what it cost to run a boat these days. There is no way that I could afford to do it the way I used to.
Champ188 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I'm like Phil on Duck Dynasty ... I think our youth are going soft and turning into a bunch of yuppies.
tapout Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Closing lake access really stinks for home owners in the area. I mean buying a house near a lake access only to be told now you have to drive 10 miles to another coe ramp, sucks. Happened to my in'laws down renfrow road. Of course rif-raff was trashing the shore line so coe blocked the access for all (they blocked the road at the take line), ultimately punishing the residents that bought property for that access. Ironically the residents were the ones complaining about the trash. I don't think that was the answer they were looking for. Economically, I can see repurposing the land, but they should leave a small parking lot with a ramp for the public. I'd like to thank my FUTURE sponsers: Falcon Rods, Jewel Bait Co, and Seagar
Members Scottwold Posted August 6, 2013 Members Posted August 6, 2013 Tapout.. I agree. I'm one of those homeowners just up the street and that ramp is soo convenient. I didn't think any monies were being spent. Can't see why they don't just leave "as is". Is this the Corp that is talking about this, or someone else? Who can I contact to get more information?
Quillback Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Yeah it makes sense to leave at least the ramp open. They are still going to have to pay for upkeep and maintenance and enforcement of parking permits.
vernon Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Contact the Public Affairs Office at the Little Rock District of the Army Corps of Engineers. Contact information is available on line. Documentation regarding the area closure will be available as these decisions are not made in a vacuum nor are they made by some incompetent individual at the District looking to poke area residents in the eye. Bill Babler Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 From what I am hearing its people using it dumping trash. Yes it costs something to pick it up. Don/t think they are to concerned about the fee out there. I know there has been complaints of hunting on the park along with picking up quite a bit of sacks of trash, and of course folks using the launching ramp sometimes have nature call and have to use a tree. Then there is that. Joe Bald would get way less use either than Coombs or for that mater the park they closed up the Kings River, near Sweetwater Got a real feeling Viney had better watch out. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
