So last night I am in my basement...tying a couple flies, (happy my two month old and wife are sleeping) and enjoying college football and a couple beers. I finish my fly and stand up to admire my handiwork. Take one step and boom pain...thought I stepped on a fish hook. Turns out...much to my surprise... to be a 3 inch long scorpion that stung me on the bottom of my foot. So I squash it and start googling Scorpion's and debating if I need to go the hospital. Obviously, I find out they are not really that dangerous....not much worse that a Wasp sting. It hurt for about an hour, but overall was not too bad. It did give me the hebegebee's though. Searched to see if there were anymore present and sprayed the nooks and cracks around the house, but it appears to be a lone ranger escaping the heat and dry conditions.

Never thought that would happen in Missouri....

I haven't seen one since i escaped Oklahoma in 1986. There are a lot of them down there. Been stung a few times but it was always my own fault.

FT Sill 1961, but it got me as I was reaching for the soap bucket to start a 15 hour day washing pots and pans in the kitchen so my last day of KP at SILL ended after about 10 minutes and after I went on sick call I was able to malinger out of two more days of carrying a rifle and wearing a steel helment , every cloud has a silver lining

Nothing good ever happened to me in Oklahoma

I got stung by one once in Missouri...hurt a lot worse than a wasp sting, but didn't last very long. We used to catch them back when I was a kid. There were a lot of them underneath the rocks on a high railroad embankment where I grew up.

I've never been stung by one, but they are about. Saw one while hiking at Washington State park earlier this year.
