Champ188 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I can appreciate your feelings for sure, abk. Thing is, it is just the opposite down here. Our local Cabela's is incredibly neat and organized, especially the fishing and boating departments. Probably has more to do with management than anything, as the fishing/boating manager here runs a tight ship, so to speak. He once owned his own tackle shop in Rogers, then worked as a manager at Hook Line & Sinker before hiring on with Cabela's. On the other hand, the BPS in Branson is pretty much a joke. More times than not, they've been out of the staple items I needed when I'd drive up there from Kimberling City ... things like 15-pound fluorocarbon line (not even a spool of their own BPS fluorocarbon in 14 lb), common lures in common colors, etc. And trying to get help from anyone who knows anything is just as difficult. Just my experience but I don't apologize for being truthful.
Ham Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I'm so frustrated with BPS in Branson that I'm going to try to NEVER go there again. Going is worse than not going. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
GNSfishing Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I have found that ordering online and delivery to the Branson store works well. It is also cost effective to order online and have it shipped to your door. That can cheaper for me than driving to Springfield an 80 mile round trip. BPS online ordering had free shipping if your order exceeds $75 don't know how long they will be doing that. I also order from Tackle Warehouse. I dropped in the Cabela's store in Rogers a couple weeks ago and the store is very well organised, but I found some of their prices were high when compared to other similar stores. I would not drive to their store unless I was in the neighborhood. I have bought a few things online from them.

Been there only twice, but they didn't have the lures I wanted either time. It's almost worth driving up to BPS HQ in Springfield. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Chris, the fishing Manager at Cabela's does a great job keeping the fishing dept. neat and orderly. You do have to watch the prices on some items, but they are about right on most items. They have just a horrible selection of stuff and never have the most popular items. Stuff that they should have just gobs of in the back during certain times of the year like grubs in the early spring, football jigs in summer, etc. Anytime I head to TR I never stop in there because I know its a crap shoot on if they will have something or not. So I just stop by BPS HQ in Springfield or more recently Sportsman Factory Outlet just because LEWS Speel Spool is right there and like to try to give them some business. I have also bought stuff online from BPS and had it shipped to BPS Branson and just picked it up that way I am not left hanging because they don't have an item.
hknfsh Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I quit buying bass pro rods a long time ago. They will haggle you on an exchange of their own brand and you can forget a replacement on a brand name. They will tell you the manufacture has to replace it. Buy from fin and feather.....John will switch you out no problem !!

Buy from fin and feather.....John will switch you out no problem !! I've had the opposite at the BPS here in STL. Took back 2 reels (Quantum KVD hunks of crap) and got store credit for them and got a Citica and Curado instead. Brother broke his Shimano Crucial and just handed it to the customer service rep and she said go pick out another no questions asked. BPS is good in my book on that end. But I guess maybe it is up to each store or manager how they want to handle returns. I have no complains about our St. Charles location here in STL.

I believe Bassmaster#1 has had similar experiences at the STL BPS. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
